True duals or power crossovers?
« on: December 13, 2015, 12:52:50 PM »

Bought a 2015 SG CVO this past spring.  Wanted new exhaust system, stock to quiet plus out to get rid of the cat. Thinking Vance and Hines monster, question is do I get true duals or go with the power crossovers, thoughts?

True duals will rob power, Monsters are to big and will rob power. Your choice. If I had to choose from your choices it would be the crossover system with a more reasonable V&H slip-on. But for me I would buy fulsac headpipe and inserts.

Loads of posts about true duals vs crossover. In the end I fitted V&H true duals with oval twin slash. Got a decent map. Have I noticed any power drop - nope, pulls like a train, had them for a year now, really pleased.

Back in '09,  when I got my new 110 SE Ultra,  I was supposed to get V&H Power Duals and they made a mistake and put on the True Duals.  That mistake was soon corrected,  but in the meantime,  the bike was dynoed with the true duals and later on with the Power Duals.

In both cases,  Rinehart mufflers were used.  HP and torque numbers were better with the Power Duals.  Also,  they didn't "bark" as loud as the True Duals which was a "plus" as far as my wife was concerned when she rode on the back.

For "looks",  I gotta say the True Duals look nicer..............but for power output and a little less noise,  the Power Duals are the way to go. :drink:

I'm not saying true duals do not lose some power, but through the but ometer I couldn't tell the difference between mine and a mates bike that had power duals, and I certainly didn't find myself getting left behind

Love the looks and sound, but have got the quiet baffles in

Power duals and crushers

Works every time

That's the combo that has worked out great on many of the bikes I have tuned.  My go to combo.

Fuelpak FP3, Power Duals and Monster rounds for me. If I wanted lots of power I would not have bought a Harley in the first case. (Got other bikes for that)

Don't forget Fuel Moto's Jackpot 2-1-2 head pipe that gives you the advantage of the x-over and the sleeper effect of using the stock heat shields.  I was very pleased with the quality of their stainless steel with ceramic coating.

Power duals.  Monsters are good slip on but would recommend rounds over ovals for simple reason of mounting is easier.
