Water in Power Commander Connector
« on: May 27, 2007, 03:58:53 AM »

I had the opportunity to wash both SEEGs this week - they were both Waaaayyyyy overdue and put some wax on them.  They looked good!  We decided to head up to the Rolling Thunder mess in Ft Washington and took off outa here early this morning. Well my bike was running like doo doo.  I rode ahead within the first mile to pull my husband over to tell him that I was getting a lot of popping, no power, just running badly.  He said lets try and see if it heals itself - shop is about 45 miles away.  Well by the time I get there, I am about beside myself.  I pull up to the service door, there is already a line of folks trying to talk to the poor frazzled service manager.  When he sees me he comes over and hugs me and asks me what is wrong, and he says to hang on a moment.  Well while waiting for him, a mechanic is sitting on a bike - two bikes over. My husband and a buddy are discussing what the problem could be. The mechanic says it is water in the Power Commander. Well the guys pull the saddle bag and side cover and we look in at where the power commander is and it looks like some water is needed in there, but it is a dry place for sure.  The guys start the bike up and you can hear the missing and pinging - no Wayne, turning up the radio was not an option this time.  The mechanic walks over, pulls the plugs apart on the power commander, a couple of tablespoons of greenish water spills out on the ground.  He grabs my bike, pushes it in the back. blows the water out, adds the dielectric greece, goes for a quick ride comes back and says "have a good day."  No charge, less than 10 minutes.  Can you believe that?  Well when he put the power commander back in, He tucked it up high and stood it straight up and down so that it can't happen again.  My Good Dealership treatment story for the day.  HD Richmond Rocks.   :bananarock:

That's great Candy. Glad this dealer treats you like they should and that your problem was easily solved. Have a good holiday.

Candy,

I'm happy for this end.   :2vrolijk_21:

The water is not good also in the glasses, they're better with fresh beer  :drink:

The next time test the beer for washing your bike  ;)

It's always great to here of quality dealerships. Just one question though, would he have done that  if you hadn't been a lady.  If the answer is yes then stick with that dealership.

On a similar subject, I worry that Zippers don't supply a plug to seal the little DIN connector on the Tmax.  I hunted around to see if I could find something to fit, but no luck - I guess I'll stick some adhesive tape over it.
