Freedom Head Pipe Fix for Break Pedal
« on: May 30, 2007, 05:45:46 PM »

Greetings All!

I spoke with Brad at Freedom Cycles today and was planning on doing their pipes and PCIII package this weekend. He told me their new fix for the break pedal interference on the 05 SEEG was to install a Kuryakyn brake pedal that will give clearance to the head pipe and heat shield. Does anyone have a picture they could post of this new Freedom fix. Also, any thoughts on pros and cons. Thanks in advance for any feedback or posting of a pic!

The Kuryakyn pedal has been used by many members including myself for a few years now. The part number you want is the 1027.

The pedal looks identical to the stock billet pedal but it is thinner which allows the added clearance for the pipe.

Here is the original Freedom pipe thread, unfortunalty many of the pics and some of the posts did not make the conversion.

Thats what I had to do on mine. They look about the same but in my opinion the Kury pedal is nicer than the HD one.

Or 10 minutes with a Dremel works pretty good too....

That'll work on the shield Don but the pipe itself gets really close to the pedal as well......

The pedal is what I took the Dremel too.  Thing is so wide and fat you can radius that back quarter a lot and never notice from the outside unless you're specifically looking for it.  I did a little body and fender work to the heat shield.  Wouldn't have been satisfactory.  The pedal was an easier and more effective solution.

...Gotcha, You're right the pedal would be easier to trim up....Personally I like the angle of the Kuryakyn pedal better anyway. Free's up some space for the boot.

I've thought about that often Jim.  My last Road King had an EZ Brake brake pedal.  I loved the angle on that part.  I found no reason to change the pedal for the clearance issue as the cost of a different pedal versus 10 minutes with the Dremel just didn't seem to add up.  But I have seriously considered changing to gain the difference in the angle of the pedal.  Never got around to it.  But I've thought about it.

Thanks to all! What a great site!! I'm going up Friday. I'm wondering if they have one in stock. I'll give them a call in the morning.

Just talked to Brad today. They do not have the 1027 in stock but the do have the solid version (without the oval cutouts)

EDIT:
Brad now has the 1027 in stock!
