Dyno Base Map or Not?
« on: May 31, 2007, 07:12:41 AM »

My 03 SERK goes into the Dyno this Tuesday and when I asked then tech do you run a base map? He answered usually not, I asked would it cost anymore to have that done and he replied no.

So should I have them run the bike to get a base map or just have them dyno it?

TIA,
John

When you say base map are ou refering to a base "run"? If so then I would say yes, have them do a base run to see where you are before they make any changes. Before going it I would read this thread on dyno tuning:

http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=6566.0

It is from AI magazine and has some great info and great questions to ask the tuner.

Another vote for getting a base run. This should be automatic and shouldn't have to be requested as it is a good comparison for you and benefits the tuner/shop that is doing the tune. It will show how well of a job they did tuning your bike.

Well the bike is already at the dealers with the 1st 1k service compleated and sitting in the box waiting for a workout on Monday. I did not see these articles untill after the bike was dropped off. I did request a base map, also  the dealer that I took it to is pretty well know for there work (Lakeshore HD in Libertyville, IL) so there should be no problems.

Thanks,
John

Yup , I figure might as well do it as it is included in the price.

Thanks
