Re-pack D&D Fat Cat
« on: March 10, 2010, 03:53:54 PM »

Have the Fat Cat with the quiet baffle for almost three years and it seems to be louder than it was when new.  In talking to D&D I found out that the quiet baffle is packed and they sell a kit to re-pack the baffle.  Just wonder how much trouble I'll be in for trying to remove the baffle after this period of time.  Anyone have any experience with this?

I've had my Fatcat with quiet baffle for over 2 years, and recently I tried to remove the quiet baffle and it wouldn't budge. I tried everything I had at my disposal to get that baffle out, just not going to happen. I could tell that there was plenty of packing left from the 10" I did get the baffle to move, but it starts bunching up and jams the baffle solid in place.

I bought mine at the dealer and they spent 8 hours (charges $75.00) to get it out.  Once they been in a while they don't want to come out.

Good look.

They will sell you just the slipon part.

Thanks guys.  You confirmed my concerns.  Looks like once some time passes it is tough if not impossible to remove.  I'll probably just leave it alone - or buy a new muffler without the headers if it becomes necessary.  :2vrolijk_21:

I have heard so many good things about the D&D too.. Just way too loud for me, even with the "quiet" baffle. I finally found an easy way to remove the Rinehart cap and replace those baffles,,, That's a chore too. :orange:

 :P :P

I repacked my Rinehart's within a five hundred miles of buying the bike.  It was relatively easy.

I bought the sphaghetti material (yes string material) from Fuel Moto.  Worked great.  Bike has 11000 on it and is still tame (or at least more tame).  Lowered the sound and the decibels.

Use Areo-Qroil, it will loosen anything.

Try heating the muffler with a heat gun.  Put the heat gun in the muffler for 5-10 mins.  It worked for me.
