the reason it says 08 and newer is because that's when the 50mm throttle body became standard on the bikes...beings you put the 50mm throttle body on, the ventilator will work...I personally would go with the heavy breather...the ventilator will bring in a lot more air than a stock box, but the heavy breather will bring in even more.

I'm not so sure the 50mm SE throttle body will accept the same backing plate as the 50mm ETC throttle body that's standard on the late model Touring bikes.  If you look at the hole pattern in the two throttle bodies, the ETC model seems to have a different pattern than the old 50mm SE model.

Shouldn't be all that tough for your dealer to open up the package and compare the backing plate hole pattern to your SE throttle body, assuming he has one in stock.  BTW, the catalog lists a different part number for the Heavy Breather for a 08 and later Touring model than it does for the previous models with either the 46mm or the 50mm SE throttle bodies.

You are right grc, tried to install the Ventilator this afternoon and the center bolt pattern on the throttle body would not line up when the backing plate vent bolt were installed in the heads. The center of the throttle bodys way off so if I want more air I guess I'm going to have to look at the heavy breather.Whats my other options? It's in the breakin stage right now but my tuner wants to put about 600 miles on it before we do the dyno tune and he say's the oe stage 1 filter won't get it done.Help.

What do you think about the Heavy Breather?  It actually flows a little better than the Ventilator, but the esthetic's aren't for everyone.  One of those love it or hate it products.

If you prefer sticking with a more traditional appearing air cleaner, you might consider a Stage II version of the round K&N type filter.  Ness makes them, as does Zipper's and tons of other folks.  Basically it's very similar to your Stage I SE air cleaner, but with either a bigger diameter filter or a deeper filter.  Downside can be reduced clearance for your right leg.

Jerry's right, the Heavy Breather is a love it/hate it look.  I had it on my 08 Street Glide and loved both the looks and the noticeable performance increase when I mated that to a set of 2 into 1's.  I personally like the looks of the Heavy Breather...

I still only see the Heavy Breather listed for 08 and up and if you look on the page before (471) the lastest book I have for 2010 it shows all the backing plates available and the 3 bolt pattern is turned completely off centered from the older models.I could live with the heavy breather look but the Ventilator works well on my SERG and to me looks a little more at home but like yall said to each his own.I really appreciate the input from you both.

There is a version of the Heavy Breather that will fit, you just have to wade through the confusing descriptions in the catalog to find it.  See attachment, from the 2010 SE Pro catalog.

It is confusing grc the way I read it is (except 99-01 efi  and 50mm part #27623-05)racing application which is the throttle body I'm useing. It funny that their high performance air cleaner does not fit their high performance throttle body.

Click on that attachment to blow it up, and then take a closer look.  The exception is (except 99-01 EFI).  The 50mm throttle body is not part of that exception statement.  As long as you don't have lowers with glove boxes, that part number I highlighted should work.

I agree, the way H-D writes their catalog descriptions and exception isn't always terribly clear.  The fact that I've gotten to be pretty good at figuring them out tends to worry me.

Will it also fit the pre '08 bikes with the standard throttle body?

I believe you have to have a 50mm throttle body for it to fit.  Which comes standard on 08 and later EFI bikes.
