Vance & Hines Power Duals with Hi-Output Slip-ons - Radio?
« on: February 13, 2012, 09:01:44 PM »

So I decided on the Vance & Hines Power Duals with Hi-Output Slip-ons for my 2012 CVO UC.

I did read many posts here before I decided and listened to the sound on many youtube movies.

Question for you guys that run these on an Ultra, can you hear the radio okay using the fairing and rear speakers?  I like the sound from the exhaust system but do want to be able to hear the radio at the same time. (At highway speed)

Any input will be appreciated.

V&H Monster slip ons tout "Perfect for hearing your stereo on the highway".  Not sure how much louder the high outputs are.

those of you who have the V and H HI output.. are they similar to the Rineharts?  Loud enough to be heard in a pack at all but not over bearing?   I want to get new pipes on my new 2012 CVO UC.   Trying to decide if true duals is the way to go or can  acheive a good sound in slip ons that is somewhat loud and low.  I'm open to any ideas/ suggestions.   Currently have a bike with the true dual basanni true duals..  like that sound..

Thanks much!

You will get a hundred opinions on set up. I had motor issues and went to a 113 build. When I did this the pipes I had (Rush true duals and Supertrapps w/disc) choked it down. Went with Hi Outputs and VH crossover to open up. Works great.

Within reason a little louder at idle(minimal) and about the same cruising and a little louder WOT.

I am running the V&H Powerduals with the stock cvo 4" cans with 2" Fullsac Baffles.  Very pleased with looks and sound.  But you will get lots and lots of suggestions.

I have the V&H Power Dual and Monster rounds on my '11 Ultra CVO.......

I guess it depends on your definition on "hearing the radio".  I can hear it while cruising 70, but have to have it on 60% volume.  Sound is garbled/muffled at best.  Swapped out to the front and rear speakers for the new J&M Rocker speakers (+500) and barely notice and improvement. Voice (talking) is garbled, music not much better. Dont expect miracles

Anyway, I am getting rid of the whole set-up...header, cross-over and mufflers.

May want to check your radio with bike off. With your set-up you should be hearing everything pretty clear. With the speed volume control I can hear pretty well with boom speakers and stock radio. I do primarily listen to XM.

I really don't get why people keep thinking exhaust prevents them from hearing their stereos at speed.

If you want to cut down on noise, wind is your number one enemy. Get the loudest exhaust you want with the proper windshield, and you'd be further ahead than you would with a quiet exhaust and a lousy shield.
