No Supertrapp Exhausts here... WHY?
« on: October 01, 2013, 09:55:30 PM »

I am curious to see why I do not see any of the Supertrapp exhaust systems like the Stouts, Fatshots or the Megaphone series on any CVO bikes.   I would think that the disk design would be a good choice to maximize the back pressure, sound and performance desired from our CVO bikes.   Also I have read that the Stouts sound like the CFRs but do not have the low end torque losses, or tuning issues that the CFRs have.

Does anyone here have Supertrapp exhaust on their CVO?   Can anyone comment as to why I do not see any here?

Maybe it is as simple as "they don't fit" for some reason?

Thanks in advance.

Supertrapp Stouts

I have the Fuelmoto 2-1-2 headers.
I installed these 5 months and 3,500 miles ago.

Hey SteveHD, can you describe the sound?  Volume compared to stock and other exhausts?   Tone?

I love the look.   It is Bad Ass.   Beautiful bike.

Atomic Orange,
I am also considering the Stout's as an exhaust choice.   Can you describe the sound in comparison to other exhausts that you have heard?

I'm running S/E Fatshotz (15 discs, closed caps) behind a Jackpot 2:1:2 and full-size crossover on mine.  The bike's dead-quiet at cruise and makes silly low-end power.  Sounds good when I get on it too.

I have Rush True Dual headers and am running 14 discs and closed end caps.

So it is louder than stock and not obnoxiously loud and I like the sound.  It is louder than the V&H Power Duals and Monster Ovals than I used on my 2010 Ultra Limited, but not as loud as the Supertrapp V-twin Quiet System 2 into 1 on my Big Dog with a S&S 117 motor.  It is not as deep as the V&H combo that was on the Ultra Limited.

Been very curious about the Stouts myself. They seem to look good in the pictures. Wonder about sound and performance

I have the Kerker stouts with S&S powertune duals on my '13 CVO Ultra . I'm very pleased with the sound and performance . Good low end torque and they really bark when you get on the throttle but mellow out so you can hear your radio at cruising speeds which I really like .

I have the Supertrapp SE slip ons on my F2008 FLHRSE and I am very happy with them. Nice deep throaty voice which doesn't overwhelm you, but barks when you get into it. Overall a good choice for me.  :)

I have Kerker Stouts on mine, love the sound with Fullsac Head Pipe,  just need to get it dialed in right.  Using the TTS map with the 2.25 cores, OK but theres more to be had?

Quieter than most aftermarket.
I would recommend the Stouts.

Am I missing the boat? I have the SE Fats, but running 6 disc & open caps. Thought I was happy, might need to revisit. I have the Fullsac X and TTS.

You know you can drive yourself nuts diddling with things......

Your open cap flows the same as 10 discs, so we're both getting similar flow.  The closed cap should be quieter, and should do a better job preventing reversion and promoting scavenging - especially with the larger crossover.  It's an easy enough change to make though, so it's probably worth a try.  I'll say this though, if you're changing discs, do another V-Tune run to see what your VE tables do.  My base PV map was a CVO Stage 1 w/Jackpot mufflers, and the Fatshotz (at least I'm assuming it was the Fatshotz) flowed so much more air, the PV scaled the displacement up to 116 and change, and I'm still seeing VEs around 120.

I mention the V-Tuning not just for making the bike run right, but quieter as well.  When my ECM was on the fritz I couldn't tune, so I rode around with the Fuelmoto base map.  Bike ran fine, not really a big deal until I tuned it.  Aside from the usual benefits (less heat, smoother, more power, better economy), the bike got quieter.  Lean is not only mean, it's apparently loud too.

Bottom line for me is that the Fatshotz rule.  They're as close to an "all-things-to-all-people" muffler as you're going to find.

I'm not sure how many miles are on mine, as I bought them used.  I know the packing in my Fatcat had seriously degraded after about 25,000 miles.  I don't know what Supertrapp recommends, but I'd imagine it's somewhere in that 25,000-30,000 mile range.

That's funny!  I like loud, I have the Stouts and when I open the throttle I love the sound, far from quiet.  However, I will agree that at 75-80, they have a nice low tone that allows you to listen to music, however the people behind me say they can hear the slightest excelleration through the mufflers?  There are two models, the Supertrapp and the Kerker.  The Kerker Stouts in my opinion have a very similar sound to the CFR mufflers.

I put the Supertrapp Stouts on and like the smooth, non-raspy, deep and powerful sound.   Cruising at 70mph I can barely hear them.   I'll try to post some videos for you.
