New Idea in Brakes (360 Brake)
« on: February 13, 2007, 07:43:29 PM »

For those who have been looking for rotors that would show off more of their wheels, this product could be the answer.  http://www.360brake.com/   No endorsement, just came across it and thought it might interest some of you.

I was able to fondle one of these setups last year while in Florida. An interesting idea to say the least. There is a guy on chopperweb installing one currently. The cost is slightly higher than a good six piston caliper and floating rotor. The extra cost may be worth it to see all of that "Bling" of the front wheel.

Sounds neat, but I question some of their claims of how their unit changes the physics of braking.

Very interesting...looks from the exploded view to work much like a clutch.  Neat concept and it would certainly clean up the wheels..

Sorry but that looks to me like the early 70's style brakes that were in the hub.   :confused5:
Aren't we supposed to be progressign?

Just my opinion, but, I want something that's going to stop MASS.  That looks like it would heat up so bad on some twisty mountain road real bad and real quick.

Get me some disc rotors that are 22" and out on the rim...the SERK3 is getting there...THAT will stop mass faster.  Look at the sport bikes.  The backs have a disc the size of a coaster.  The fronts though...they'er out on the rims.

But then again...this is my opinon.

It's been awhile since this thread was first posted. Has anyone bought this product ? If so, can we get a report on performance ?

Thanks

I have a bud that has/had this set-up on his ride...
I have riden beside him and the system is noisy as that it rattles...noisier then it should be in my opinion...
He was having some issue's with the system in the beginning as to not stopping him as well as he had expected and felt that there was air trapped in the lines...He had a mechanic remove all the fluid and re-fill while removing all the air...After completion he didn't seem to be over whelmed with the stopping from the 360 brake...After contacting the manufacture and addressing the problem with the bnrakes locking up on him 1000 miles away from home...
He decided it was time to remove the system and is about to install the 6 disc PM rotor on one side of the front wheel...
So as of now the 360 would look great and possible act right if it was on a chopper and not riden as a daily commuter...anything other then a chopper or show bike you may want to reconsider and look at a set of PM's 6 pistons...
just my humble opinion
