Anyone running the Traxxion Dynamics damper kit?
« on: October 31, 2007, 10:37:58 AM »

I know the AK 20 cartridge kit has had great reviews, has any body gone with the damper rod kit ? (damper rods/41mm emulator/heavy springs)

I'm nearly positive everyone on this site that has done the Traxxion upgrade has done the Ak20's and not just the dampner rods.  IMO, if you are going the effort and expense, spend the extra money and do it right.  Everyone that has done the AK20's has been happy, including myself.  Highly recommended.  Doesn't  look as good as chrome but the ride and handling is much better.

I do know for a fact that the emulators they use are Race Tech Gold Emulators. I've used them before and liked them. I agree that if you're thinking about it, go all the way. You'll probably be happier in the long run with the real deal.

I had the Race Tech Emulators on my bike before I got the Traxxion cartridge kit.  The AK-20 kit is FAR superior to the Race Tech kit!!  If the AK-20 kit is 100% better, I would say the Race Tech kit is about 30-40% better that stock.  Just my 2 cents....

The damper rod kit is 38.46% of the cost of the AK-20 so that makes sense.

A chrome front end kit is another $500

That puts it in the same range as the Perse Performance smooth lower kit with the same innards , the Perse is hands down better looking .

Going chrome with the Ak-20 pushes almost 2K

nidan,

I had the AK-20's installed two weeks ago at their facility, then I trailered to Maggie Valley and rode the Blue Ridge Parkway 300 miles. The improvement was incredible! I'm sure you have seen the other reviews, but, if you intend to keep the bike for a few years, you will not regret the AK-20's.

I've heard nothing but praise for the AK-20 , and heard good reviews from various folks that have gone with the Race Tech emulators as well .  From what I can tell you get what you for.  I don't really find the stock front end that bad , coming from a Wide Glide 3 , it is a LOT more planted.

Thanks for the input

Nidan, the stock front end is what we're used to.  So it feels "normal" and acceptable.  I didn't have the slightest clue how sloppy bad it was until it wasn't anymore.

Yeah , kinda like going from stage I to stage IV , you don't realize how anemic the motor is till you add 50% power ::)
