took another look at the bottom of the fork leg and think i might have made things worse   will wait till i have the forks out and can see what i'm doing

making progress, cap is off, mono tubes are in, just need to get them compressed enough to get the upper caps in

the troubles continue. have 1 leg completely rebuilt and installed. but cannot complete the other leg, looks like i need to call progressive monday.  the threads on top of the cartridge will not engage with the fork leg, it feel like it starts to catch but then pops out.

even broke done the first leg and swapped the monotubes the same monotube had the problem with the other fork leg

Maybe stupid question but do the threads you're speaking of engage with the threads the fork leg caps screw into ? If so, those threads cross so easy it's beyond belief. Take your fork tube caps and see if one of them turns in and out easily. If not, you've got a crossed thread and that's your problem. Since those threads are far larger than any tap you're likely to have at your disposal, you may need to take the fork leg and have the threads cleaned out at a machine shop. DO NOT try to use your caps to clean the threads, you will only bung up the threads on the caps.

So in effect you're saying that your brand new parts from Progessive are defective ? Not exactly what I'd call a ringing endorsement for that product.

Nope!
They have sold thousands of these kits and Neal has a problem with one leg.
Naitram, call Jim or Progressive on Monday they will get you right.
If I want to read drama I can read the OCC or Priorities thread.
The monotubes are a great product and I'm very satisfied with the 3 sets in my bikes.

We all love having to take stuff back. I mean it's just so much fun to mail order parts and have them not work. Makes me so happy I could just chit that's for sure.

noone enjoys the RMA process, but how a company handles it say a lot about them.  i have an RMA number and will keep you guys posted
