Title: 2013 CVO RG with 15" Windvest
Post by: kojak on January 07, 2013, 06:06:46 PM
After doing my research, I ended up with a 15" light smoke Windvest. I looked at all the different brands and this seemed the best quality and best looking for the money. Well, I took it for a 50 mile 35 degree ride today and the difference is amazing. I am 6'2", 205 lb and the bike seat and bars are stock. I was in a buffet free zone the whole way. A 14" might have worked as well but wouldn't go any shorter than that for my height.

Kojak2,
Is that the OEM windshield gasket or does windvest give you one to use with your purchase?

Thanks

OEM. Its a tiny bit longer than the Windvest screen.

It looks good, Kojak.  If it works in the snow it will work anywhere.   :2vrolijk_21:

It looks pretty similar to the Clearview windshield.  Yes/no??

That looks like this one:     http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448774170&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309065645&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309065645&locale=en_CA&bmUID=1357687095468&bmLocale=en_CA

Only......it DOES HAVE a 'groove' to route the wires to the inside of the bars.

Top edge is little higher than my chin. I can duck behind it or look over it. The GPS mount is the Harley handlebar mount and I have the audio connected to the front radio aux input. Since I have the IPOD interface running to my right saddlebag, wasn't really using the aux input.

Similar, the Clearview is a little wider. I was looking for feedback from riders over 6' on the roadglide.org forum and the Windvest seemed to have the edge.

Do you have a picture taken from the side.  If so, would you mind posting it?

Thanks!

Looks good Kojac! I was looking at Windvest as well as I am only 5'7 the 10" should work perfect. That was the a recommendation from Yellowbird on this site. Of course you have to look at every possible windshield out there. Glad to see the light smoke to, I was going to go with dark but think you have changed my mind. Just taking in for header/ muffler and tuner. Thanks for posting and hope the snow is gone soon!

Kojak,
I have the Klockwerkes on my bike the one just under the tallest and it only werkes when I'm along with the wind,
The other times I get Rattled all over like a RagDoll.
I have the Stock one that's useless and now the Klockwerkes that I have to get rid of only to go with the same one you have,
I'm just a mere Inch taller than you but 330 #'s of solid Beer Belly :)
I'm glad I read your thread,
How is it in any wind condition? I remember wen I had a Tall windshield on my 03 King and it was a daisy of a ride, very much enjoyable in any weather.

Thanks bud...

Its great. Little to no wind in the saddle. 14 or 15" Windvest will work great for you, their customer service is good as well.

+1 on that.  I have the same bike with the same windshield.  It works very well.

I also added the Sancho's Wings to my fairing, which really completed the setup.  The wind effect on me now is very comparable to my 2011 Road Glide Ultra with the Clearview Recurve windshield and full lowers

Got the windshield installed yesterday, went for a ride and noticed the difference right away. However I do get some wind in the face still and I am Contemplating on just getting a smaller windshield and taking the full blast of air In the face. i think i Have come to the conclusion that there's no fix for me. However I do wear a fullface helmet and I don't think it's Going to matter at this point.
Thanks kojak, oh, we have the same set up, I have the backrest and the slipstream hi way pegs with the billet collars :)
