For any members in the SoCal area. Dalamatian Rescue of Southern California located in Newport Beach CA has some really sweet Dals and mixed breed Dals that have been rescued from bad homes, abuse, high kill shelters etc. Dr Zeus my dog came from these folks. They have a website with the dogs up for adopotion posted. If you love dogs and I mean really love dogs, Dals are the best. They are called "velcro dogs" because they attach themselves to you. After having Dr Zeus for two years, I think the knock on Dals being hyper is not so much that as it is that they do cling to you. Some people simply cannot deal with it.  Here's a picture of Dr Zeus. There is a dog up for adoption right now named Tango that looks just like him

All of our close friends still wonder why we don't have a "firedog"

My dog died last summer.  Over a few months from something called degenerative myalgea (forgive the spelling if it's wrong).  Dizzy was an Italian Greyhound.  Italian Greyhounds were all I'd ever had.  Loved the midget Greyhounds since got my first one back in about third grade.

So most of a year has passed and hadn't gotten another dog.  Until today.  TC, was thinking of you for the last few days as securing this girl has been in the works.  Brought her home this afternoon.

Brindle coated full Greyhound.  Raced when she was young that got stuck as a breeder.  Six years old last month and was retired from being an inventory supply tool.

So far so good.  She's actually got a personality already.  Not timid.  No aggression around other animals.  Played with my niece just fine.  Coat is a mess.  Bathed and brushed and got six dogs worth of dead hair and dandruff out of her.  Though she dug the bath time.

Pretty sure she'd never had a chance to just be loose in a large open area.  Got about an acre and a half inside the fence and when first turned loose she just sat and looked around.  Seemed a bit intimidated by it all.  After a bit, however, she figured out it was fun to run.  Full tilt as far as she could go back and forth until she was exhausted.

Seems good on a leash.  Fell in love with the couch.  So far has shown good potty training habits too.  So apparently not a life entirely in a crate or a kennel run.  But she was still a bit run down.  Next couple of weeks will make a big difference for her.  Some good food and getting her coat and skin in good condition will be huge. Aside from that the vet says she's in good health.  Spayed last week and had only weaned her last litter a couple months ago.  Now she gets to take it easy.

My niece Parker got to name her (she didn't know her own name of record before so we could start over).  Kid liked that her coat was called brindle.  Thought it was a pretty name.  So now she's Brindle the brindle Greyhound.

This is the Dutch CVO DOG his name is ARCO and he supposedly is a BOUVIER, but he Does not know it.
He is about 10 centimeters higher as a BOUVIER should be according to the "specialists"
And his weight is 63 Kilogram, and there comes the problem. His habit is to behave as a CIHUAHUA
and thinks it is fun that when I am sitting on the couch to take a run and jump on my lap
I can assure you that hurts.

Adoption is one of the best and worthy things we've ever done , just don't quote me after a rainy day and our 2 Jack Russels have terrorized the squirrels in the muddy back yard. Good luck with Brindle Don........................................................Fuzz :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks Rich.  It's only been about 16 hours now but she seems to have latched on to me.  She'll get more comfortable and gain her sea legs then be more comfortable wandering the house on her own.  But right now if I move she does.  On her new big dog pillow here in the office right now.  Last night she started out on her other new big dog pillow at the end of the bed.  But sometime after I went to sleep that didn't last.  That was interesting to wake up to.  Stretched out nose to tail and apparently quite content a Greyhound takes up a LOT of room.

She is loving the yard though.  Unpurposed running entirely for its own sake is a new game right now.  I need to teach her to chase a ball and play fetch.

Don, looks like another, happy rescued animal.  Always like to see rescues go to good homes.

Check the food on google.

Hooray for you and another rescued pup  :2vrolijk_21:

Don't recall if you made the 2008 York trip. I took LtBawb, another rescue greyhound lover, over to Gettysburg HD. Guess what day it was - Greyhound Rescue Day! There must have been 2-300 greyhounds there that day.

I missed that one Duane but you or someone sent me pics.  It looked awesome.

The new-to-her food she started yesterday should actually be ok.  It's a slightly richer canned food she'll be on for awhile to help perk her coat back up where it belong.  But she's no doubt ever had only the cheapest dry chit the breeders could give her.  So while she likes it just fine she's going to have a case of the smelly poots for a few days until she gets used to it a bit.  Fortunately (for her) the smell of her own farts doesn't seem to bother her...  :drink:
