While in Maggie Valley my wife did an eval and pulled a Golden from a shelter. Had been there 3 weeks, don't know how long he was wandering around before being picked up - some people just plain suck.

Anyway, he stunk to high heaven, but his first vet visit was good.

So the old man goes into our rescue program and after two and a half weeks at our house I get to take him to a foster home in the Catskills.
4.5 hour ride for me (one way), and after the two weeks I spent with him I almost turned around a thousand times.

This little brat did this for most of the trip!

If he wasn't staring at me he was looking out the window.
It is sad to think what must be going through these poor animals minds.

We stopped for coffee and a walk, here he is patiently waiting for to finish my joe.

I hope you find a nice home for this boy...he has a sweet face, and would make someone a great companion in his final years.  If I could, I'd have 100 of them...

Terry - I though he did have his home, again my wife is the stonger one here and put her foot down, he must move on to make way for the next one.

When I win the lottery I will have a farm full of 'em!

What a sweetie.  When Terry brought Matrix home, it was obvious that he had been abused and perhaps a street dog.  He wouldn't touch dry dog food and it took a few days for him to start eating.  I think he was eating off the street or table scraps from his former owners.  Now he inhales his food. 

Matrix seems so grateful to have a home.  He puts his head on Terry's knee and looks at him with such love. 

Hi Susanne - I truly believe that when you "rescue" one of these pups that eventually the dogs truly understand what you did for them.

As much as the dogs in our lives give us the "unconditional love" that we get, I believe it is multiplied with a rescued dog.

The big news this week if Gov Randell, PA, signed into law a bill the protects the animals in the Penna puppy mill problem. 

Maybe in the future our work will slow down.

I read that, Duane...fantastic news!!  Now, if we could shut some more of them down.

I've had a few dogs "retire" to my house over the years...people don't generally give dogs much credit for thinking, but I swear, I honestly believe these rescue dogs appreciate the kindness.

Actually Kathy - he has a very good chance of finding a home if it is after thanksgiving - just too much right with an upcoming wedding.
