Don't ever, EVER get 2 puppie 2 months apart... like twins with fur.

2 months or two years same thing, and they always seem to teach each other the bad habits  :nixweiss:

I must have a thousand pictures like this.
These two are 3 years apart, one from a well known breeder and one from the shelter. You would never know they are not litter mates.

I know what you guys are going through. I did have a dog die because of bloat and it was awful. We do not have a 24 hr vet locally, I had to drive her up to Chesapeake, which as an hour in a half away. I had fed her a pigs ear and a couple of hours later she was in throwing up and in terrible pain, plus she was 14 years old and very frail to begin with. They told me she had bloat and that her stomach was twisted and that they were going to have to do surgery right then if she had any chance of survival, I told them no, I had her put down right then. Also the same dog had a bout of pancreatitis and that is horrible, if I hadn't gotten her to the vet when I did she would have died. She was in the hospital for two days.

I'm glad to hear all is doing well with both dogs.

Kathy,

So sorry you had to go through that. My research post incident with our girl shows you made a wise and loving decision for you pet.
The odds are slim to begin with and with age and other pre-existing conditions any surgery would have just prolonged for a short period of time the inevitable.

The hardest decision, but the one that shows the most love.

I agree. The girl is independent minded, but the big boy is practically joined at the hip to his "pseudo sister". God love em.  :2vrolijk_21:

Just a couple of our pup Lacey. She is a Basset Hound I found at the local humane society almost starved to death, she definitely doesn't have that problem now.  :2vrolijk_21:

When I was a little tike my parents had a Basset Hound. Great dogs but ours was a farting machine, hummmmm I wonder if it was just my dad always blaming the poor dog. :o

Yes it is always a hard decision but you don't want them suffering.
