Joe, sorry for your loss. I to lost my Golden last month. We are big baseball people so his name was McGwire. He was 14 years old and man did he live like a King, as Goldens should. We had to put him down in the middle of the night after he had a stroke. Here's a pic of him the day after. As you can see he always got his way, he just had to drive. I'm still very sad to this day.

There's just something about Goldens that melt your heart. McGwire was our second Golden and Beau our first and he was the same way. One of the businesses that I own is a Mobile Dog Grooming Service, and we have a lot of Golden customers and everyone is just as sweet as the next. I'm very sorry for your loss, people say that time will heal all hearts but I'm not sure if thats true. I think and miss McGwire everyday but most of all it's not having him at the front door when I come home. OK, I've got to stop before I

So here's at least one funny part of the story...

I put his leash on inside at the front door.  Spent some time petting him and got him ready to go for his last car ride. 

Walked in the front door after a very emotional experience at the vet and what do I find? A large pile of Harley Poop!  I Don't know how in the hell he did it!  I'd bet my last dollar that it wasn't there when we left!  But somehow he managed to have the last word! 

So now I feel my house is haunted by him and I couldn't be happier!

Oh and I did take a picture to show my family (in case they didn't believe me) but this is one case where "THIS THREAD IS BETTER OFF WITHOUT PICS!"

This is my name sake on the forum.  He was 14.5 yrs old when we had to send him to Harley Dog Heaven this past summer!  This is my Catahoula Buckshot wearing the Harley Colors.  He had as many miles traveling as some of us, he had been to both coast( paws in both oceans), south to the gulf and travelled all over the US while I was on the Rodeo Circuit.  Also had a few air miles on Delta a few years back.  LOL!   He was a great friend and best bud!  But all said there was never a loss of good times for myself and others when he was with me.  friendly and loving!  How could you not love a face like this?
