At 11 years Fergus doesn't quite tear fenceboards off anymore, but a wonderful rescue dog with a DD214, no retirement check though..He listens to English, German and hand signs...Retired service dogs need homes too.

5 years...great dog. Low alert growls and when he has angry bark going you would be a fool to try and test him. Lisa's best friend.

He does get nevous when I am dry-op checking weapons, I think he was shot over too young..

Sensitive feller with a squirrel fetish.

There you go.  Just another "ism" from the boxers.

Our last three boxers are all rescue dogs and most likely all of our next ones will be too.  I doubt we'll ever be able to change or downsize although Q makes a good arguement for the downsized version IMHO.

Both of mine came and worked their way under my desk and pushed me out this morning, I hadn't fed them and it was 10 minutes past the normal feeding time.  Too funny, who is whose pet, often it seems we are theirs.

I'm sure Bagger would agree that if you are a dog person, a boxer is a great choice, one downside.........they sort of come in pairs.  Right now we own two 70 pound lap dogs. ;D

I went back to this post of 2006 when we were talking about boxers and our two, Harley and Annie.  Sadly we lost Annie last week at the full life age of 13.  She was a wonderful dog and we were lucky to share some "bonus" years with her since many boxers live 8 - 10 years.

As noted above we are rescue people and with Annie's advanced years we had looked for a fit with our male Harley who is 7.  Just a couple of days after we had to put Annie down we found a 3 year old in Newport, Oregon.  Here's a pic of Annie with Harley and their Rhodesian friend Emma and one of Bailee the new girl (in front) with Harley.

Sorry for your loss, glad you rescue, we have had rescue Dobermans for close to 30 years, and each time we lose one a little piece of us go with them.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Rog...it's tough to lose one of the family.  On the other hand, it's great that Bailee has found a new, great home.  She's a beauty!

Sorry for your loss Hotrod50.  My yellow hound, Jinx has been dx. with cancer, so we're facing the sadness of losing the family pet also.  We get so attached to our pets and then it's tough when they pass on. :'(  spyder
