Screamin eagle ventilator
« on: September 11, 2021, 12:09:12 AM »

I am looking to increase the air flow.  I am leaning towards the higher flow filter system that comes in 2 parts backing plate and filter and then the cover.  I am locked in on a black backing plate, BUT I am a little stuck on the cover, I want it to be in the same "brushed chrome" that the rest of the bike has but my only option for a cover seems to be black or chrome.  Anyone run into this, perhaps the chrome they have is not the shiny and is exactly what I am looking for?  thoughts.

Check with Fuel Moto. They sell an upgraded backplate and filter that allows you to use your factory front cover.

I am checking them out now. I'm really liking the option that I can use my original air cleaner cover and go stealth. My only concern is do I get the high flow, I've reached out and asked them if they could show me a picture of the new backing plate and if they could explain what's helping me get the higher flow of air is it just the K&N Filter itself?

FM is a really good company to work with. Listed as 80% more flow and with FM I would say that is correct.
FYI, they are closed on the weekend, expect to hear back early next week.

This is what you need ; https://www.amazon.com/RK-3956S-Intake-System-Harley-Davidson/dp/B07N27T5JW

Have it drop shipped to Paul at Fuel Moto and he'll massage it for you for about $100. It will be a direct bolt on for your bike. You will then use your own Ventilator cover. Paul has done a bunch of these and also includes a fitment kit. Hurry though it looks like K&N has discontinued the silver ones. Works fantastic and looks better than stock too. It sits level instead of cocked forward like stock.

Is this for a 2020 cvo Streetglide?
Don’t they come with a heavy breather?
How about a picture of what you have?

What you have is what came stock with your Ventilator, the K&N is over twice as big. The pic I sent is of the bottom one, you have the top one.

Great description. Thankyou.  Are you happy with your decision to put the k&n one in?

Very much, when I had my bike dynoed it did even better than expected. After the tune was done I had him make another run without the A/C and it didn't lose anything until the upper rpm's. Even then it was only about 2hp above 5K. I can definitely live with that.

It may help us all to know what your overall goals are.
There are a lot of pretty smart people on this forum and then there also some of us not so smart!

I used the fuel Moto air cleaner kit recommended by a source I trust to complement my build. I hear that the “heavy breather” is also a high flow unit that may flow a little more.

I also made a BUNCH of changes to the drive train to get the HP/TQ where I wanted.

If you have that goal you can always collect the parts before hand, keep riding the bike stock, then tear into it and have all the right parts installed.
Saves time and money in the long run. My “friend” told me all this!

Mike is right about doing as many upgrades at once as possible. Especially when they require a $400 to $500 dyno each time. In my opinion nothing is better than a good dyno tune to get the most out of your upgrades. This A/C upgrade is well worth the time and $$$ and really looks nice. The K&N 3956 (S) is Silver (they also offer it in a matt black) so it will go well with your Silver accents without any additional powder coating and it sits level with your tank unlike your factory backing plate, for a much nicer look.

Yes I agree.  Mine is a 2020 Seaview 117. I have already bought the full stack pipes and Muffler upgrade I have not installed anything yet I have a TS tuner which I have used before on previous bike so I'm familiar with that process the last thing for my winter project would be good ventilator or air cleaner and that's why I'm searching for this at this time and then I will install everything and be happy. I realized that the warranty will be avoided and I'm willing to undergo that risk.
