Thunder Max Question - speedo calibration
« on: December 19, 2006, 10:32:41 PM »

Zippers preinstalled a map for my configuration into my new Thunder Max with Auto Tune EFI module.  They preset the speedo calculation to 42000.  The user installation guide specifically tells you to check the speedo calculation for your model and year bike, and verify the proper speedo calculation has been installed.  The speedo calcuation the user guide states is 42540.  Does anyone who has already installed the Thunder Max know if they have 42000 or 42500 loaded?  I tried both settings after I completed the installation and cannot detect any difference.

sadunbar,

The difference is the tire size on the 2007 models.  The standard models that use the MU85-16 tire should use 42450, other models like the CVO bikes with 17" tires should use 42000.  The 2007 bikes are all geared the same, the difference is in the tires that were fitted pertaining to the model.  While it is a small difference, it will affect things like gas mileage calculations.

Thanks, JK

Thanks John,

Other then the question about the speedo calibration, the installation was simple - no issues or problems at all.  The instructions were clear and everything worked just as advertised...  I am looking forward to some warm weather to give it a road test...
