reo, thanks for the heads-up.  Are they using the oiled K&N filters (reddish in color) from the factory on the Fat Boys, or the new oil-free high flow filters (white)?  Reason for asking is the Fat Boys are the only ones so far to come from the factory with the open air cleaner (i.e., no backing plate), so most of us who've done the Stage I upgrade have the oiled K&Ns since H-D's only recenly switch to the non-oild versions.  I wonder if it is an issue just with the new style of filter? The new air filter on the flstfse is the high flow design and I would think they are putting the same filter on other cvo's. Well the reason I'm posting on this matter is to tell everyone to check their air filter and see if the can see light thru it like I did. When checking mine, I found the K&N style filter had a portion at the top between the mesh that had no filter media making a poris portion leaving a unprotected area. I brought it to my dealer they gave me a replacemet with no problem and said they have seen this once before and was going to make Harley aware of it. It can be hard to detect as some of the holes were the size of pin holes some 1/4 inch in size but their was a portion at the top about 1 1/2 inch where the filter media was very thin and missing.

I have been trying to figure out what the correct K&Ns air filter would be for an flstfse with a Stage I kit. I have looked at their website, but just cannot determine the part number. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
