Orange paint
« on: August 16, 2018, 02:49:03 PM »

I'm looking for a small quantity of paint to match the Orange accent striping on my Black Earth and Vivid Black Road Glide.  The Inferno Orange on Toyota's Tacoma looks really close. Any Ideas?

Go to a reputable painter that has the camera that will read paint codes and have them read it... you may also try a retailer that sells auto paint they will probably have the camera, get the code for you, and then mix the paint. Trying to match a paint by eye, purchasing it/using it is IMO almost like trying to win the lottery... chances are more that you will not be happy (win) than you will be happy (win).

Paint is very expensive. Best deal is to get someone to read the color & mix best possible match initially. Eyeball is a very poor way to determine paint match. Also if you are mixing a bc/cc color formula and you are not going to clear it, it will appear 'flat" or dull when dry. Accent stripes are, for touch up purposes, usually pretty easily matched by pinstriper guys. They use a product such as 1 Shot that they are able to tint with amazing results. If you don't know a stripper check who the local Reputable body shop uses to reapply hand painted pinstripes.
