2003-04 VS 1999-2002
« on: September 01, 2003, 07:37:32 PM »

I wonder how the cvo compare in the diferent years.
I mean motor HP. The cc's increase from 1999 to 2003 with the'03 being the a 1690cc. Now how much faster would this motor be to the past models? I also wonder how much better the performance would be to aftermarket performance enhancement compared tothe factory upgrade? Do you think the factory work is not up to the true potenial?

ELIXIR1,

welcome to the site. i'm not sure how to answer your question. depending on the CVO model there may be no difference. some have come with stock motors and some have screamin' eagle performance parts installed at the factory. however those bike still need to get past the EPA so they have restrictive air intake and exhaust. so in that aspect the motor has not yet lived up to its potential.

Thnks for the response. I guess the way I worded the question was a bit confusing. What I am wondering is a few things.
1) starting in 1999 the CVO FXR2 & 3 was 1340cc then 2000 the road glide was 1550cc and 2001 was 1550cc
and the 2002 road King was 1550cc and the 2003 & 2204 CVO is 1690cc
Ok, I hope this makes sense so far. Is the '03 &'04 much more powerfull and faster then the earlier models?
2) The other part of the question is with the facorty upgrade is the bike going to perform up to it's potenial being it is factory upgraded compared to doing it aftermarket? I relize the EPA standards would limit the true potenial but replacing the carb and exhaust would take care of that ( I think?)
So indirectly I am asking is the CVO worth the extra money, in a motor sense only. I relize the paint, wheels and chrome ETC.. definitly are but just the motor upgrade. Does my question make sense?

Thanks

as they say there is no replacement for displacement, yes they have more HP and TQ than a stock twin-cam, however if you are buying a CVO bike just to get the motor and dont care about the other things like the excessive chrome and limitied edition paint job. then personally i would say you dont want a CVO bike you can take a stock roadking and add a big bore kit a cam and even a stroker kit for a lot less money than the CVO price tag.

Speaking of HP....

Does anyone know what the HP is on the 02 SE King?
I have heard conflicting numbers.

Thanks,
Benny.
