Title: WO515 Chubby Bars Installed - Have a question though..
Post by: 93-331-29psi on April 23, 2012, 07:29:09 PM
Spent a few hours this weekend installing new bars on the CVO and have gotta say I'm loving them.  All in all not too bad a job to complete and the only issue I had was the clutch master wouldn't build pressure so I had to bench bleed it.  I would like to get a new clutch hose about +2 on length, and if anyone can recommend a place to get a matching hose I'd appreciate the referral.  Thanks

Ok in response to your question, I saw on a thread somewhere (forgot to bookmark it) that Magnum makes a cable for our bikes, and that you have to specify it's a CVO because there's a tab on the clutch end that's different from the standard bikes without the Hydraulic clutch?

Now I have a question for you? Which highway peg mounts did you go with, and do you have a part number?

Thanks

PS- Bike looks great, I just want taller bars......

Not positive.  But I think those are out of the kuryakin catalogue.  Check out their site.

I have to ask, what is the difference between these WO515 10" mini Apes and the Bars that come on the CVO Roadglide?  The heritage bend bars on it stock are ten inch by my tape measure.

Those look like the short angled hiway peg arms.  I can't tell if they are HD or Kury.  I use the HD long arm version because I'm short, and I also like the pegs to be just outboard of the brake pedal so I can either put my foot all the way on the peg, or have my heel on the floorboard and the toe on the peg...if I have to cover the rear brake pedal, it just means pivoting my foot to the left, not moving my whole leg.

The WO515 bars are much wider than stock which allowed me to roll them more forward without getting an uncomfortable wrist angle. As compared to the stock bars they are about an inch higher and 2 inches wider which for me gives a much more natural feel.

The highway pegs are the stock passenger pegs on the HD short angled mounts. I'll check magnum for hoses thanks.

I am pretty sure I want to change the stock bars on mine.  So if those 515 are only an inch higher then I need to most likely look at the 501 which are 12.5 rise and 36.5 wide and 12 pull back, which is 2.5 taller and .5 wider then the 515 and .5 more pull back than the 515.

Many tell me to go to the 572 which are 14 rise 36.5 wide and 12.5 pull back.

How tall are you?  How does the wrist angle compare to the stock bars?  How high are your hand in relation to your shoulders?

Thanks for the information.

Would really like to see the bike sitting upright with a side shot or even someone holding the grips .. that way I could get a much better perspective of the height and pull back.

I am 6' tall and my hands are well below my shoulders still. I thing that 12.5 would have been the ticket but there will definitely be some extending wires (grip heater wire ???)  and new brake/clutch hose for those for 12.5s or bigger.  For me 14s would have been a tad too high and most likely put my hands at or slightly higher than my shoulders.

I'll see if I can get some pictures to give you a better idea of wrist angle and how they fit me.

Center stand goes on next weekend and I'll get you that pic.

Thank you for the information.  Trying really hard to decide, only want to do it once if I do it.

I am still debating between 12" or 14" bars myself, but need to sort out my seating position first.

Forum member Wachuko posted some info on the center stand on the RG forum will try to dig it up, if I am not mistaken he was not pleased with it....
