Security Vault for a bagger
« on: May 19, 2010, 10:18:47 AM »

There is a company that sells a security vault that fits into a saddlebag and secures items and also locks the saddlebag to your bike.
I realize that it interferes with the saddlebag lift out bags and may slightly decrease space inside. Yet the increased security may be a nice thing to have?
I have dealt with this company in the past for console vaults in my Avalanches and the product quality and customer service is great.

Does anyone on this site have one of these vaults for their bike? If so how do you like it?

i've found that a relativly effective security measure is to place an empty holster on the bike in an easy to see place.
then that's just me. :hanged: :hanged:

I imagine the company doesn't photo and show the full install method for security reasons to help the owners keep their stuff. (No need to openly educate thieves who may read.)
From reading between the lines I would guess the vault uses the front saddlebag mount and in turn the front mount is secure inside the vault when locked. Thus the items inside and the saddlebag is more secure.

I know this is not the question that was presented, but I wonder if a vault is a good idea.  If a thief is going to try to steal from a bike I would expect them to do damage to the bike trying to get at whatever is locked in the vault.  I have the same attitude about my convertibles.  I try to keep the top down when parked because I keep nothing in the car more valuable that the cost of replacing the top.  Why put someone in the position of taking a pocket knife to the top to see what is inside to steal?

I would vote not guilty if I were on a jury trying someone for cleansing the gene pool of a thief and I would not hesitate to take such action myself if I caught someone stealing from my bike or car.  I still think it is best to keep the valuable stuff with you so some idiot thief does not do several thousand dollars in damage trying to get at what ever he thinks might be hidden.

Food for thought.
