Credit where credit is due ?
« on: March 18, 2011, 06:38:23 PM »

Over the past few years, at times we here on cvoharley.com have had a number of threads in which the talk turned to "wouldn' it be nice if H-D Inc followed the Honda GTX formula" etc etc. I notice that H-D is now offering a variety of models with engine options vice - - take it the way we make or buy a Honda if you don't like it. Could it be that they actually are listening to us ?

I don't think H-D has been listening. I think it is great they are offering engine options.

Not sure if they are really listening to us Brian, since their quality and customer service still sucks, but the PowerPack 103 option is a nice start.  Much better to have it come from the factory versus having the dealers install it, IMHO.  I'm amazed the dealers didn't raise holy hell about it, since they've all made fortunes doing those 95" kits in the past and the 103" kits more recently.

I'd still like to see some basic items that could be purchased ala carte, like the engine upgrade or some nice chrome wheels, without having to go with the packages that boost the price beyond what some can afford.  It's not as efficient (or profitable) for the factory to have a bunch of individual options instead of packages, but those two items shouldn't create any major logistical problems I can think of.

Maybe if the economy and motorcycle sales stay in the tank long enough, they really will have to start listening to us.  How refreshing would that be?
