I did mine back in '12.....the stuff I used had foil on it and killed the hidden antenna reception...but, the GDO still had the same range....funny.  Base was better and didn't get any humming vibrations any more. I think I felt the few extra #s .

I don’t know how it works, but you can buy the same stuff on Amazon for $18.95 shipped for a 12 X 24 sheet, maybe two sheets to do the inside of the fairing and you cut yourself

Dynomat is probably the leading name in sound deadening automotive adhesive material out there. When re-doing the interior of a classic car, sound deadening material is a must and should be used on most all of the interior panels and once the interior is re-installed makes a night and day difference. If you have a decent stainless steel sink in your kitchen, take a look underneath and you'll see strips of a similar material adhered to it to keep it quiet while running water. In this case you are paying extra for the convenience of a top name brand and that it comes as a pre cut kit. I have used a product called FatMat that is less expensive and provides the same effect, there are several other options but the quality can definitely vary. For my fairings, bat, shark, and lowers I've mounted some in the speaker enclosures and a couple of strips on the large areas of the outer fairings for sound deadening. Any more material, just like on your sink, is not necessary.

I thought about doing my shark nose and speaker pods when I added amp and speakers, then decided not to spend the $.

Think about it: We are traveling 65+ MPH most of the time, is a 1/4" rubber mat going to change the sound that dramatically at any speed? Maybe if you ride to a spot and park, then you can  crank Guns n Roses and Scorpions for the crowd, but riding the bike and getting better sound from a mat? I do not think it makes any difference. Just my 2 cents.

Gotta agree. And at that speed, in my experience it's the wind noise over your ears and helmet that makes the difference.

I totally covered the inside of the fairing on my 09 SERG. Used Dynamat. Great product, I used a single Automotive Universal Door Kit and it worked out with almost no waste. There are some other cheaper brands, I have a friend who does custom auto interior work and he claims that on the cheaper brands the foam tends to harden and crack over time from exposure to heat (like a floorpan on a car) when hard and cracked it no longer insulates.
On my bike the radio sounded better at idle or when not running. I could tell no difference at speed, none, in my opinion it accomplished nothing.

So I just happened across this, not only do your fairing, but you can do your tool box also!

when i crank up the volume on my 13, i can feel vibration up thru handle bars. I notice it more when i'm ripping thru turns and i question if i'm have wheel or tire problems. It's just the fairing vibration from the speakers. I'm use it it now but I bet the vibration wouldn't be there with one of these products was used.  Being half deaf from all my years of riding i don't think i would hear any  sound difference.   What?
