Title: Texas103 - Greg
Post by: Unbalanced on July 05, 2018, 09:57:51 PM
All,

Was just informed that Greg had a bad wreck and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield Missouri.   He was on his way to see his daughter and grand kids in Illinois.   Don't have any data to share on what happened.   He was listed in critical condition and had surgery.   Please keep Greg and his family in your prayers.

Harry so sorry to hear about Greg... Sending prayers!
Assuming he was on his bike?

Bubba, I believe so, when i last spoke to him night before he left, he said he was going on the bike.   Trying to reach his daughter over facebook.   The HIPPA laws won't let them (hospital) talk to me, as I am not on his PII list, so I have no updates beyond he made it through surgery.    I was told he was moved from the original hospital to a better hospital to care for his injuries.

He's currently at Mercy in Springfield in ICU.  Just spoke with a nurse in ICU who said at least for right now no visitors with only immediate family allowed in.  I'm an hour from the hospital so will check again every couple days on progress.

X1000 on what everyone has said.  Met Greg for first time this years bike week when Pete and Greg stayed with Harry and Michelle.  First class man.  Hate to hear it. Prayers sent.  Heal quick Greg and for the medical team to do their best.

Update -  Greg is in a room now, but not in a position to take calls.   He has a pretty long road ahead of him with many broken bones as could be expected from an impact crash.   I spoke to his daughter and she will reach out if they need anything.

The ask is to let him heal a bit and as he becomes able to reach out he/they will.   From what was shared he has a long and arduous recovery ahead of him, but we’re told he will be ok.

The family sends their thanks for the prayers and well wishes.

Thanks for the update Harry.  Greg has had too many recoveries.  One is too many.  This one after his accident outside Fort Worth six years or so ago is way too many.

Quick update on Greg (Texas103):

My wife, Teresa, and I were able to visit Greg in Springfield today. Everyone should be encouraged that he's doing well. His daughter and her family were there from Illinois. She expects he'll be discharged on Friday and they will take him to her home in Decatur, IL so he can recover surrounded by grandkids.

Greg was in good spirits and looked great. He was moved to know so many of his CVO mates were lifting him up with prayers. He commented that there's something about this group that runs deep inside.

The bike is a total loss.  His recovery will probably dictate whether or not there will be another CVO in his future. This is apparently his second accident and his daughter isn't too keen for a third. We were able to pray with Greg and his family before we left. He says thank you to everyone.

Great news about Greg.  So glad to hear that he is doing better and will get released from the hospital soon. The bike is another issue. Not the first to be bikeless and keep your friends here.  I'm glad our prayers helped.    Stuart.  :2vrolijk_21:

I'd not checked the thread for a few days.  Stopped in Friday evening as I was coming back through Springfield.  Hoped for a brief visit.  Front desk told me he'd been released from the hospital  :2vrolijk_21: .

No doubt some significant convalescence ahead.  But improvement enough he didn't have to stay in hospital made for good thoughts on the rest of my ride home that night.

Don he is in a rehab facility in the area.    Having sporadic conversations with him.  Hoping for a mid to late October release.   The hip is said to be healing as planned.   Hoping to speak with Greg over the weekend to get the latest greatest report.   He has his cell with him, but is often not available due to rehab classes and the sleep that follows.

I found Greg on Facebook and did the "friend" thing there for any updates he might post.  I'm a really sporadic user there but will at least see anything significant that might get posted.  Aside from that just haven't wanted to intrude on what's got to be a busy time.  Glad you're checking in and sharing  :2vrolijk_21: .

Harry, I got to thinking about Greg also today so just sent a simple text to check up on him. He replied when he got out of PT and was able to text back and forth with him. Sounds like he is improving and felt like he might be released in 2 weeks. That would be great for him if that holds true

THANK You ALL!! for the prayers, phone calls, cards and the support for my CVO family...!!!. Back to work now..,getting in the gym 5 days  a week ..felling pretty good again. Not sure what happened but my son in law who is an Illinois state trooper saw the bike and talked to the OK. trooper.

He  asked me if I wanted to see a picture of the bike or read the report  and I said no way!!..Some things are best remembered as they were. Damn that old bike ran good..lol. Not quite ready to buy anything else and may not don't know yet.

Was carrying my Sig 380 , it got banged up a little also. Trooper gave it back to my son-in-law. Allstate took pretty good care of me on the bike and that's square d away. Again>>.THANK You ALL SO MUCH!!! Greg

Greg. Really great seeing you posting up again. I ask Harry all the time how you are doing.     Glad to hear that you are hitting the gym too.   I'm down 50lbs since we rode last year at Harry's.    Take care and keep us posted on your progress.  Stuart.  :2vrolijk_21:

Greg, good to hear that you are back to work. Keep up the positive attitude and visits to the gym.
Maybe one day you will want to ride again, don't push it. You do know that Maggie Valley is motorcycle optional. We have 6 of us that don't bring the bikes and have a great time. Justa saying in case you want to join us there. We would all love to see you.
