Good one. No, i just thought you pushed the fairing forward and reached in and pulled the plug, and then remove the whole lot!

You can, but as you have found out sometimes it just gets a little difficult. I use to always take off the fairing with the headlight in, until I had a problem with the getting the HID assemble to stay in the socket.

So now I always just pull the headlight, literally takes just 5 minutes or less and makes taking the faring off much easier and with less drama.

Of course the old sock trick works just as well weather you pull the headlight or not.

And, as "boatman" mentioned, if you pull the headlight, put a towel on the fender (should probably do that anyway).

Uh, that's how I do it.  Is everyone else removing the whole headlight assembly from outer fairing? :nervous: :nixweiss:

Brian - I think you may find that those who have loaded the inside of their fairing with accessories and wires (amps -bigger speakers - HID's etc)
find it easier to just pull the headlight, only takes a couple of extra minutes and with the HID it makes it much easier. My HID has 3 separate wire connectors with rubber seals that add to the disconnect effort.

I'm not trying to bust chops, but did you take out the 2 lower fairing screws by the steering neck?  They are hard to see if you don't know to look.

First, my method of removal comes from what everyone (especially Don) has told me.

Somewhere along that path I got a tip I use every time (along with the socks, Candy's and they are thick & pink!) is a magnet place directly under the screws mentioned here by erniezap. 90% of the time I get that screw out and drop the sombitch into the bottomless pit in the neck area.  That magnet will catch it every time, saves a lot of time and verbolics are limited! :2vrolijk_21:

OK, its off, the LED bulbs are really bright, it worked out great. Now I might as well put that new headlight in that HD has for 94.95, the old school glass one is really a dated look. Do I need to get that trim ring? part number 67726-71A I have to order the whole deal online and usually if I order it first, I dont need it, if I dont, I need it. Has anyone done an 04?

Are you speaking of the smooth lens headlight that came on the '05's? You have a P/N. If it is the one that came on the '05's I have changed mine to that and you can use the stock trim ring, however I did add the visor ring over it.

That is the bulb I used in mine right after the SEEG2's came out w/them. My I-connection is slower then molasses today, but check this thread - I Need Pictures of Your CVO Electra Glide I posted pictures of my bike for Chief when he was looking for paint schemes of the SEEG's.

I also put the visors on the spots.

You mean can you remove the garage door transmitter without removing the headlight?

You're removing the headlight with the fairing to get at the GD transmitter.

As Don stated, remove the whole outer fairing.

Regarding the original post about the headlight connector hard to disconneect-my 05 was a pain to disconect, whereas the 09 Streetglide you easily squeeze the headlight plug and simply pull off.  Also easier to get the fairing out/off than my 05.     :nixweiss:

All the dealer told me was that the mod for the garage opener is under the fairing.

Correct, a little flat box mounted to the inner fairing and wired to the headlight plug.  Then you have the receiver that mounts to the opener on the door.
