If you take all the screws loose to remove the fairing and try to lean it off to the right side you'll be free of one spotlight anyway.  You'll be making it more difficult rather than less.  Just remove the thing.

Brian - I think you may find that those who have loaded the inside of their fairing with accessories and wires (amps -bigger speakers - HID's etc)
find it easier to just pull the headlight, only takes a couple of extra minutes and with the HID it makes it much easier
. My HID has 3 separate wire connectors with rubber seals that add to the disconnect effort.

This guy is pulling it for the first time. There should be nothing in the way except for squeezing the clip. The worst thing to do is to take the headlight out everytime. Sooner or later you will need to repair the threads in the ABS. If the headlight needs to come out for what ever reason then I do it. But never just to remove the fairing!

I have done it both ways and now I always remove headlight first, just easier for me.

Once headlight is out fairing has that easy front handle to remove.

I took out the light and the fairing came off very easy. Also helped when installing to line up the bottom two fairing screws.

The secret to lining up ALL of the screws is to get them ALL started before tightening any of them up. It is easier to wiggle the fairing around to get them all started.

When I have to put the fairing on by myself, I put in the screw under clutch and under front brake and tighten them to about halfwayit allows the fairing to stay pretty stable and allows me to move the lower portion of the fairing around to line up the holes under the triple tree.

Also on the take off, i put a pair of gym socks (clean ones dont want to hurt the chrome) and slide one side of the fairing off, it makes it easier to get the the plug on the back of the light and it stops the fairing from being scratched on the lights.
