Speedo & Tach needles sweeping
« on: April 26, 2016, 07:48:45 AM »

Just finished the Iron Butt, Saddle Sore & Bun Burner this weekend. I washed the bike & now the speedo & tac needles sweep left to right when I turn on the ignition. I've had the bike since new , now has 30K on it  & has never done this before. No codes or anything unusual on the dash.

Has anyone come across this problem?

Thanks danner

I had this happen on my 07 road king.  the issue turned out to be the odometer reset switch.  it had failed in the closed position so the speedo (road king has no tach) thought that it was in diagnostic mode.  mine happened to be under warranty so no cost to me, but the switch is about $15 at the dealer.
