Down shift problem
« on: June 19, 2011, 03:27:30 PM »

I have a '97 EVO,stock, with a little over 10k miles.I have a problem when downshifting from 5th to 4th.When the bike is hot, after riding a couple of hours,if I try to downshift to 4th it seems to go into neutral.I dont think it is actually neutral because the neutral light doesnt come on and if I then kick the shifter back up it will go into 4th,if I kick it down it goes to 3rd.It doesnt happen every time, but often enough to be a concern. If I let the rpm's drop to about 2000,it downshifts normally, but if I try to downshift at "speed" it goes into a free spin like its in neutral which can be a problem if downshifting in a fast turn situation.Anybody got any ideas before I bring it somewhere. Thanks in advance for any advice.
