New to this forum. 2 more days until my RGCVO (orange) is delivered. Traded my just about new BMW K1600GTL for it. Went from Harley's to BMW's 4 years ago, good to be back. The Bimmers were great Bikes, the K1600 probably the best bike I have ever ridden. But in the end I was riding too fast and missing that something special that is Harley Davidson. Won't be driving the new bike for a while we just picked up two feet of snow in Boston.

Welcome aboard from Minnesota! You may want to go to the new member thread and introduce yourself. I've test ridden the BMW 1600 3 times now and just love the bike. I can understand your concern about riding too fast on that bike, it just never stops accelerating! Welcome back to the HD fold.

I had a 09 k1200LT, my wife's favorite very comfy for her. but top heavy lots of plastic lite on torgue. then the K1600. The wife was not comfortable on the K16. Thought about keeping the K16 but having 2 expensive bikes depreciating just didn't seem right. going to miss the heated grips and seat comes in handy late in the season here in New England.

Welcome back, I did nearly the same thing. Sold my '03 RG, bought a Wing becoming addicted to the extra power - wanted more and traded for a R1200RT. Found myself on a nearby frontage road going 110 mph and decided my life and family needed me to stick around. Besides those others have no soul! Happily back on my RGCVO...

Welcome back, I made the same move many years ago. I went from a 74 Electraglide to a K1000 nice bike at that time. It was funny boxer purists would not accept it as a BMW, my HD friends accepted it better than most of the local BMW crowd.

Came back to HD after a few years, loved the BMW but felt something was missing when I rode it. Before anyone says anything I know the K1000 was nothing like the new Beemers but the new HDs are nothing like the old AMF shovels either.

I sold my 2007 Road Glide the same month and my wife of 26 years was pushing me to buy the K1600GT/GTL. She was never really comfortable riding on my 07 RG. I also owned a 2008 BMW K1200S that I just sold two weeks ago and my wife liked the comfort of the K bike over the Road Glide. Last week she told me if I want her to on any long rides I should look at purchasing the K1600Gt/GTL.

A big welcome to the site and welcome back (let's hope) to HD from East Tennessee. I always wanted a BMW (that LT was one I had an eye on) but just too short in stature (me) to feel comfortable on. Sat on the new K16 and loved it. Just had too much money invested in HD "stuff" to make a move...plus I really like Harleys and love my CVO. As for the riding fast, during my wild hair days about 12 years ago I bought a 'Busa....talk about a ride and yep, knew if I didn't sell it I would kill myself. First sport bike I ever owned and it was comfortable...and fast. Pulled 175 MPH on it once and traded it the day I pulled a wheelie on the interstate at 85...too old to be doing crap like that.
I agree with a couple others that replied...too bad you can't keep the K16.

Egrunt, the atomic orange goes good with that BMW Police bike you have in the garage...

Anyway Bostoncvo, make sure to post a couple pics of the new scoot when you get a chance. Enjoy the site, the new CVO and keep it between the ditches...

I know it has been a long time waiting for the RG to come in and every now in then I cringe myself and wonder if I made the right choice only time will tell. I am sure I will love the RG and if not they still make the beemer.

My wife never found comfort on the GTL and greatly favored the Ultra. So I sold the GTL and purchased a CVO RK and it will be my solo bike!

I had the origninal K model, the K100LT (1985). It was a nice bike, fast as all get out, but didn't like the "buzz" it created, plus the riding position was too cramped for my 6'4" frame. Beemers are great machines and they're pretty much state of the art when it comes to technology, but they do lack that "soul" that a Harley has.
