Cure for radio issue??
« on: May 08, 2015, 10:37:25 AM »

I have developed an issue over the last couple of days.
I start the bike as normal, warning screen pops up, press accept, nothing.
No sound, volume toggle inoperable, dead.
Turn bike off, restart and everything is normal.
I have never had a headset plugged in. Only listen to tunes via speakers. I have done the latest software update. 1.18.3 I believe it is.
Any ideas to resolve this issue?
Thx!

This bug has been reported, no real fix for it. The work around has been to turn the bike off and then back on. Doesn't work every time. Problem raised its ugly head with latest software update. Seam every update may solve past issues but creates new issues. Some people have installed the older version of software to clear the issue, but then you have to live with the problems associated with the older software version.

Just another issue to add to the ever growing list of problems.

I have a similar problem with my 2015 FLHTKSE.  Every now and then, at start up, the volume control and CB PTT switch will be inoperative. Everything else works, but I can't change the volume or transmit on CB.  Shutting the bike down for a minute or two and restarting usually cures the problem.

Next time it happens, try turning off ignition, then remove left saddle bag & side cover.  Turn ignition ON and pull main fuse under left side cover.  Then turn ignition OFF.  Wait approximately 30 seconds.  Insert main fuse.  This should reset your BCM (Body Control Module) and should help.  Really it's like restarting your home computer.

Hope this helps.

I have tried the suggested reset or reboot method 4-5 times without success.
Issue still exists.
Is there a way to uninstall the latest update and revert to previous software?
This is driving me nuts.
Starting and restarting bike to get the radio to work is beyond ridiculous!

Just curious:  does the infotainment system have an "on/off" switch like the HK head unit has, or is the info system always on when the bike is?

Hold the mute button for 3 seconds.

No on/off switch.
Bike on, infotainment system on.
The above reply may help you out in the future. Found it in the owner's manual.

Since my update, occasionally after a start up I can't control the volume. Hit the volume switch and nothing happens. I pull over turn the bike off and restart and it's fine. Done this 3-4 times since update. Other than that its great.

I just read a thread on HDForums that says there is a new software update out. This one is 1.19.0
Guess I'll go find it and give it a try.

I just followed the link from that thread and DL'd it. It's on the pc for now. I'll install it tomorrow. Not too sure about the link as it acts like it goes straight to the file to DL. One guy has posted he installed it and it fixed the AVC issue. Time will tell.

This is a post from that thread...

Not sure how Nuke originally found it, but if you go to the software download page on their website, right-click on the link (1.18.3) and save the address, then paste it in the address bar of your browser and change the 1.18.3.zip to 1.19.0.zip and press enter, it starts downloading, so it's definitely from their site.

Thanks Nuke...

I hope the new update fixes the problem, but I have become very good at shutting bike down going down the road, then restarting without ever slowing down, has worked every time so far. Pretty simple actually. Kind of like rebooting a computer, just at 60MPH.
