Wax on.  Wax off.

Sometimes there just aren't any shortcuts.

You're asking a forum of Harley owners how to do a rim job? Good luck with that!

Good lift. Sit on garage floor. Get bike at perfect height on lift. Get your favorite wax and
applicator. Next step very important!    Apply wax then spin wheel then apply more wax
and spin wheel then apply more wax and spin wheel. When done,do again with towel to
take wax off. Get up from garage floor. Get bike off lift. you are finished.

Any questions need to be directed to Twolanerider.   Thank you.

Mal, I'm sorry.  But with that many beer steps added I'd need at least one more pee step....

THERE IS A PRODUCT CALLED "RIMS".  WE ACTUALLY USE IT AND SELL IT AT OUR BMW DEALERSHIP.  IT IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO PROTECT ALUMINUM RIMS FROM PITTING BECAUSE OF THE EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST ON THE FRONT WHEELS OF GEMAN BUILT CARS & TRUCKS.  THE STUFF IS INCREDIBLE!  FIRST APPLICATION IS A PAIN (PURPLE SOLUTION, GOT TO MAKE SURE YOU GET IT ALL OFF CUZ IT SHOWS), BUT IT CREATES A COATING THAT KEEPS THE BRAKE DUST FROM SETTING IN, AND IF YOU STAY ON TOP OF IT, MOST CAR WASHES WILL KEEP THE RIMS CLEAN.  NOW FOR US, A COATING TWICE A YEAR SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO HOSE ANY MOTORCYCLE RIM CLEAN WITH DECENT WATER PRESSURE.  I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU CAN BUY THE STUFF, I WILL CHECK, BUT MEANWHILE I GUESS YOU CAN GOOGLE IT.  I USE IT ON MY BIKE AND I DON'T HAVE TO PUT IT ON THE LIFT AND DETAIL THE RIMS WITH WAX BUT ONCE A SEASON.  AFTER THAT, I PULL THE BAGS OFF AND HOSE THEM OFF WITH MY CHEAPY POWER WASHER AND WALLA!

Sorry I forgot soooooo many steps but I thought this was going to be an easy job.

Never knew waxing wheels could be so complicated. :huepfenlol2: :nixweiss:

I used to have a port-a-johnnie when I was flying more.  Suppose something like that could save a few steps and make the process take less time.  Probably only necessary on those wheels with lots of spokes though ??? .

Remember Don, lots of spokes = lots of time cleaning and waxing.

You sure you want to put those on your bike?

That's what happens when a guy doesn't think things through.  Now where is that port-a-johnnie anyway.... ?
