Weather here is getting much better so I am glad to have this on for riding season. The DWG is neglected, no doubt, not sure if it got any miles last summer. I have a new battery for it that never got put in last year, we have had it on a maintainer of and on so I'll get some miles on this year. Oh, just ordered a new tail light for the DWG though. Still good for the OCD fix even when not riding it.Look good. Have done that on several cars with low front ends( 911, etc.). Still have mine in box for 06 SEUC. Will wait to hear more on your impression in future if you think make difference. Seems fairing, lowers, and at least front of saddle bags would mininum to cover. Hope it still looks as good in a month, john
One of them will most likely live in eastern Washington at the new house so I know they both will log miles in 2007.
On the install, I had offered to have the bags off, he wanted them left on though so he could apply the pressure on the squeegy easily.
He'll be back to do the lowers and a couple of other small areas that he may custom cut. Not sure whether I should do the headlight and fogs or not, the stuff is thicker on them and would protect against breakage as well as keep you on the road even if the light got a direct hit from a big rock. I guess I will, it comes off easily enough.
We just had a 2000 Boxster traded and the headlights were covered, the detailers peeled it off as it had taken a beating and the actual lens was like new.
I think I'm sold on the install, just need to see how it dries and looks then. :2vrolijk_21:

rjob749,
ok, now that you have our attention, what did it set you back for the treatment?
Mark
$350.00 installed.
couldn't be more difficult than installing the wild one chubby bars would it???? :'(
Mark
Hey Roger, protective film looks great!!
You mention the installer had a kit... our guy just has been free hand cutting ours.
I wonder where he gets the pre cut panels from??
For anyone who has not seen the "latest" generation of protective film, times have changed and this stuff is VERY good looking now.
The acutal film is much thinner than before and the edges seem to stay put!
Brad
He's bringing some wax that is designed to clean and shine it too, so I'll pass that along as well when I find out what it is.
Definitely get the name of that product. All I was told was "most products will work but nothing with any kind of abrasives." When I tried to clarify that "most" suggestion the little girl on the phone just said "I dunno."
Just FWIW, the package that arrived here with all the pre-cut pieces was $140 for the 3M kit. So apparently that's a pretty average parts cost. Would be worth a fair bit for a knowing install with guaranteed re-do if something isn't right. I just couldn't find a film installer around here who was willing to do it on a bike.
C'mon 2LN, where'd ya get the kit??? You know we're all dying to know!!!
Had to go check the package to remember for sure AJ. A place called StickerCity out in Van Nuys.Don,
Here's a link to the product itself:
http://www.stickercity.com/store/product.php?productid=18566
I'd remembered the price wrong too. The 3m version was $121.94 for a precut kit to do the whole bike.
Don,
that is where I got mine also. Still sitting in roll tube. The cost now for kit is $99. see:

John, it's $99 for a product called "Ventureshield." Click the option to get the 3M product and it comes up to the higher price.Don,
Mine's still setting in the tube too. A weekend project this weekend I hope.
Don,
My bad, should have known better than to doubt you! John
Not knowing squat (a very technical measure equating to "beans," "bubkus," or "zilch") about either of them I was tempted to order the cheaper stuff. But a couple of more experienced souls here had already told me the 3M stuff was the way to go. Having to specifically look for it as a result was the only reason I found the difference there either.Flying solo and not having guidance of the gurus here I made the plunge and got the cheaper version (actually did not realize there were two qualities available!) Live and learn as usual. I guess since it still sits in roll tube has not had great emotional impact on me!!! :nixweiss: Still would consider putting on fairing if nothing else. Waiting for Rogers report on final cleaning and waxing, John

Initial impression is great as expected. When I get my front forks back I'll be able to get some road miles on it and see how it holds up. However, with cars traded in that have thousands of miles on them the product holds up great.roger,
I went with the whole package and it is not noticeable from a few feet.
Still waiting on the was spray.
roger,
any ride report update on the 3M product? John
I just had my Red '07 SEUC done. Looks GREAT! I think it really made the red & gold colors pop up and looks deeper than it did (IMHO). Local guy here in KC is a dealer for XPEL. Did a really good job, very careful to make sure everything is clean, clean, clean. My only regret is that I didn't get my truck done BEFORE it got all chipped & scratched.
;D
What did he charge to do the Glide? These installers are they a chain in other states? I'm in Chicago and would be intrested in having my 03 SERK done?
I found this local guy thru XPEL's website dealer locator. It was $350 for the fairing, front and top of the saddlebags, side covers, and the top of the front fender. And it was the real 3M film too.Just went to the X-pel website and looked up motorcycles and they do not even list HD. Also they only listed a couple of Auto paint shops in my area that do the applications. I really prefer a bike dealer to do it?
They have another kit that has the tank and lower fairings included, and I'll probably have the lowers done later.
:coolblue:
JjR-- try this link:
http://www.xpel.com/products/configurator.asp?prevtype=3&prevyear=2007&prevmake=70&prevmodel=950&prevsubmodel=0&prevseries=0&type=3&year=2007&make=70&model=950&submodel=5205
Once you get in there, poke around for your model.
Tim :)
Hey! Guy's
Would one or more of you guy's with it on take acouple of Pic's of your bikes I know that not all pictures will do it justice but just maybe and idea of how it looks. :nixweiss:
Don..........
Be cheaper and look a WHOLE lot better if you just stayed further behind whatever it is you are following. I have Invisi Shield on my lowers where my foot comes in contact with the paint while feet are on the h/w pegs. It just looks cheap, no way around it. I see new Porsches, C-Vettes with it on them. Looks cheap there to.
Can not imagine where you all are riding that you need to cover urethane with semi-clear plastic to protect it. But good luck!
