What do you use to remove wax residue from black engine cases???

I was a careless the last time I waxed the bike and got a little wax on the engine case.  Tried several chemicals and cleaners.  Nothing seems to work well!

Acetone.   Dissolves residue and evaporates clean.  Make sure the motor is stone cold before using and don't have any heat generating objects or open flame in the area.  Don't ask me how I know....... :2vrolijk_21:

Did you try brake or carb cleaner, in the aerosol can? Spray it on a rag and wipe the area.

What works for you?

I've used S 100 & when that didn't work used Spray 9. Just don't leave the Spray 9 on long. Spray on, toothbrush it and hose off. THE MUFFMAN

Warm the engine.  Use WD-40 sprayed onto a cloth shop towel and work into the the area containing the wax misapplication. Rinse copiously.  Spray the entire engine with Armor All.  Allow to soak for a few minutes.  Wash the motorcycle as you would normally.  Once dry, that black be "blingin'!"   :2vrolijk_21:

If you're looking for a chemical analysis, there's a Chemistry PhD next door.  He's actually a really great down to earth guy; isn't stuck on himself like some PhDs.  He could probably tell you what's going on at the molecular or even atomic level.

Someone passed the idea to me when I was posted at Ft. Rucker back in 2005.  I tried it, it worked, so I still use it.........even on the blonde engine.  Just figured I'd pass it on here.

Last night, over on the SERG board, I said I'm not real smart.  Here's testimony.  I thought you meant "how does the Armor All work with the engine heat?"  As in how does it work to make the engine look good when sprayed on a warm engine.  My apologies, Sir.

It looks great when the engine gets hot and doesn't attract dust like the S100 Engine Brightener does.  I wash my bikes alot, so I'm not sure how it would look without frequent reapplications, BUT I do know that it stood up well on my 02 Ultra after 2000+ miles of traveling without a wash or reapplication.   :2vrolijk_21:
