I have been experimenting with some cheap shields to get the height dialed in for two up riding and figured I would ask the group what you have experience with, good, bad or ugly. Freedom and Long ride seem pretty close in design and execution but the Clearview has me considering because of the vent. I guess the vent works well on the newer bikes so may be worth considering for my 2013. Madstad is not an option, just can't get over the looks! Any first hand experience would be greatly appreciated.

I like the windvest. I am 5'9" and running a 12" windvest, an 11" would be perfect.

I'm 6'. Wife if 5'7". Running the stock couch ultra seat. Using a 13" Mako in light smoke. I'm good with it and can look over it. Wife says the wind on her isn't that bad. She also know if she bitches about anything on the bike, she can sit home while I go ride ::)
FWIW,,, that 13" Mako is sitting in the garage at the moment. I put the stock shield back on my bike for the upcoming trade in. If you're interested in using it for a test shield, let me know and we can meet in the middle some Sunday for lunch and I can pass it off to you.

I am 6'1" and have had 4 different windshields. Finally bought the 14" Windvest. My wife and I finally truelly Love my Road Glide Custom!!! :orange:

Clear View hands down....I use all 3 they offer, only because I have 3 different seats with varying heights pending length of ride. Clear view is also a Vender on this site and offers us a 10% discount

Just measured the one I have on the bike and it is the same size as their 15" but it does not have a flip up at the top so maybe that would help get the wind over me better with a shorter shield. I am only 5'9" and look through the shield unless I really try to crane over it, but coming off a Heritage Softail I am used to looking through a shield so it doesn't bother me. If we get a weekend that the weather cooperates maybe we could shoot up your way and try it and let you take a spin and try out the DX pipe with 2" baffles that you are considering.

Just need to hear them. And now he's got a stack of stainless DX pipes sitting there waiting to go on the shelf for sale this winter.
That 13 with the flip does better with the wind than my stock 16. Another thing I had on the bike is that GADS triple tree deflector. I never thought a piece of plastic could make such a difference.
-
I have the GADS and also the deflectors that mount under the turn signals and come down to the crash bars since I don't have lowers. They help but my wife still gets a lot of turbulent air so we are still searching. The stainless pipes should be a big seller depending on price!

Hi
if you have a look at the latest road glide they have used a shorter screen so I have been looking into this problem of buffeting and I have realised that the reason there is so much buffeting is because the screen is quite a distance away from the rider and the wind comes over the screen and swirls around about the place where the tank and seat meet so the taller the screen the buffeting just gets worse all be it further up the helmet so if you put a sort 6nch screen on the buffeting will come in lower say at chest height which puts the riders helmet in cleaner air so I have ordered the 6inch screen and will try it and see if my theory works if it does I will let you all know in the mean time ya'll ride safe now ya hear

I have a windvest and a mako all in the closet both ok
I bought a madstad and got 20,000 miles on it.
at 70 mph I have seen the bugs just float between me and the windshield
nothing else like it
-
15" Windvest. My only other choice would have been the Madstad but cant get over the ugly.
