It took me three hours last night and three to finish up today, man its alot of fun, how long does it take you to do a anal detail and what products do you use?
Six hours to clean 'er hp? Oh my. That's, well...., frightening.
Pretty sure my bike has never been that clean [smiley=beerchug.gif]
I'm not a RUB, I put some long miles in every week, I just like to ride a clean motor.
Please understand Jimp, I'm not saying a thing about the effort you're putting in. Just admitting that I'm not that diligent [smiley=beerchug.gif]
Was gonna ask this question in the SEEG section.
But since this threads here,
What is the seat made out of on the 05 SEEG?
Is it leather or is some kind of whoop-de-do material that really is just plastic?
I was going to leather treat mine but figured I would find out first.
[smiley=nixweiss.gif]
But Don tell us the real truth.
Is it real leather?
"custom leather seat with perforated seating surface"
Being the suspious lot that we are give us the truth.
You know
It's the difference between leather dressing and Armour All
You'll be able to tell from underneath the next time you have the seat off. Leather will be rough on the opposite side, more like a seude (sp?). Vinyl will have about the same surface on each side.
...[smiley=7.gif] Especially when it's a couple and you look in the females eyes and you can tell she would rather be on the bike with you with her hair in the wind. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
...., bag-r-rests (speaking of which if any of you have never seen these or familiar with them they are great for taking bags off bike for washing/detailing. go here: http://www.hangemhighcycleproducts.com).
Your link does not work..How about a picture...you know thew drill

This site does like to spend my money...
103, you could be like a 'test pilot' and test this theory out on her and report back and maybe save us all in the process. Har! [smiley=nervous.gif] spyder
Twolane,
Now I know the first project for my new 12" sliding compound miter saw with lasertrac! I can save $100 dollars for the $500 the saw cost plus material!
/Bill
It's sure an easy one Bill. The only measurement that is at all precise or tricky is the distance between the pieces of bar stock. That has to be just right for the detachable rack to set down. Whenever you get to it drop me a note back and I'll measure these for you (don't remember now what the measurement was).
This is kind of like telling the wife "this bike has everything" when I talked her into getting it (she knew I would still be spending money on it). Now I keep hearing about the $24K Diamond ring she wants [smiley=shocked2.gif] [smiley=nervous.gif]
Thanks, but probably different for the '04....plus, upgrades will be necessary...Chromed Roundbar to start...I am starting to see the savings evaporate!
/Bill
hd-dude, Do you think offering to buy her a SEEG would work instead of the ring. It is a little more money than the diamond, but you could save money by knowing what works and what doesn't from your current bike accesorizing experience. When my husband started hinting about a diamond ring for our 20th wedding anniversary (http://flhrsei.org/attachments/20th.jpg) , I told him I'd prefer the key ring to a bike like his.
If he could go back now, I wonder if he'd get me that diamond. haaaaa haaaa haaaa.

Here's a few replies in no particular order...
I picked up a can of Pig Snot...A name like that, deserves to be tried out. Ill try it on the engine this weekend.
Pig Glow, The bottles look cool. I'm gonna try it for $hits & giggles.
As for the 24K Ring...I never skimp on the wife.
She deserved every penny I spent on her new 2006 Harley Davidson F150!
Hehe....
Here's a few replies in no particular order...Michael, try the Pig Spit (by Rolling Thunder).....IF you have a black engine. It's the best I've found for a black wrinkle finish engine .... to keep it very black when they start to fade. :) spyder

super secret decoder ring leather testing method and a bit of sniff-test ...........
Don - you were sniffing your seat [smiley=dizzy2.gif]I was worried there about Twolane for a minute there. Had to go back and read his entire post to figure out what this was all about. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]
[smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Gotta thank those that mentioned the Hog Snot. Went to hose the bikes down yesterday ---------- WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY Overdue, and found that I did not have enough cleaner. Sent Jamey off to the HD Shop. But he realized that rather than run 6 miles he could go one and stopped at the Victory Shop and got some Hog Snot instead. Let me just say that I am so glad he did. It is superior to the S100 and so less caustic on my hands and left a just waxed feel and look to the bikes. OK, finally warmed up enough we are going to take these cleaned up bikes out for a ride. ;)
Pretty sure it's "Pig Snot" when you Google either "Hog Snot" or "Pig Snot" it returns "Pig Snot" products.[smiley=worthless.gif] [smiley=worthless.gif]
All this talk makes me feel like my nose is running or I need to go look in the mirror to make sure I don't have something stuck on/hanging out my nose. [smiley=nervous.gif] :o [smiley=nixweiss.gif] :D

twolane, you may need to clarify with Sumax as there may be different Spit/Snot products that do different things. :-? spyder
OK, that's different than the PigSpit that I use on my black motor to bring back that 'new' black look of the black wrinkle. :) spyder
Spyder, the sheet they sent was referening cleaning of the surfaces. It cited a Pig Snot Surface Cleaner, not a wax. It described it as something that would/could be sprayed on and in the fins and other engine surfaces and then washed off.

S-100 wax
MR Clean water treatment
Novus 1, windshield
Harley gloss, detail chrome
Honda Brite cleaner, motor and wheels, same as S-100 cleaner
Commander motocycle dryer
lot of microfiber towel's
Beer
Here's a good site

And......you can pull it out in the direct sunshine and it still looks clean. :) But, you dread to get caught on a wet road after that. :( har! spyder
That's just good mental health time! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
Candy, was it Hog Snot or Pig Snot? Don't have it handy where I'm setting right now but I think the product that Sumax recommended in a flyer with the returned heads and cylinders after powder coating was something called Pig Snot. Described it being the best product to maintain the shine and appearance on the engine parts after all their work was done. I could have the names confused though.
