Man Down!
« on: March 22, 2004, 08:46:58 PM »

I posted on several threads about the SEEG that AK and I both had an opportunity to ride last Friday night.....the one that had all the motor work done and was really fast.

I learned today that Don and the lady he'd been dating lately, went down on Sat. afternoon.  Up on the coast near Ft. Bragg, along Hwy. 1 doing about 70 MPH (in what is probably a max zone of 55) a camper or motorhome pulled out onto the road in front of them.  He laid the bike down.

He has broken legs, arms, clavical, pelvis, collapsed lung, spleen damged and various other injurys (no head trauma, thow......that little beannie didn't have a scratch on it).  He has surgery yesterday afternoon for his lung and pelvis.

She has a slightly fractured pelvis but looks like she's not going to require surgery.....they're talking about releasing her tomorrow.  Of course they both have road rash.

The bike is totalled according to the paramedics.  But the important thing is that they'll mend and be o.k. down the road.

So I may not be getting the information on his motor or the dyno sheet any way soon.

Sorry to hear this and dido on the prayers. Just lost a cousin in Phoenix about a month ago in a bike accident. Really hits home and it always takes you by surprise when you get a call or message like this. Really does not matter most of us don't know him, we all still feel the pain, must have something to due with the brotherhood thing. You just don't know when it may be your turn. Our thoughts are with them!

I'm with the rest of you.  They are both in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Only knowing Don vicariously through the stories of his awesome SEEG, I can't wait to read about how he decks out his new '05 SEEG!

Sad...darn cagers...

Some of my best friends lost their son to a bike accident.
Now I have them riding again...Road King Classic.  We go riding together on trips, and they kind of feel like it's a link to their lost son.

We all need to be alert for auto's and animals on our scoots.  I believe they are starting to incorporate motorcycle awareness for new automobile drivers in Mass.  Our prayers go out to them both!!

Of course not......they think they are the only one out there.  They drove on down the highway.

Drove to Santa Rosa yesterday (a couple hours drive, one way).  He's still in intensive care.  They let me in, but Don's still not conscious (due to the heavy medication....demoral).  She was operated on yesterday, after all.

J.C.,

It's a miracle they're both okay.  I guess laying the bike down is what saved them, rather than plowing into the vehicle.  That's some heads-up maneuvering.  Please let both of them know they're in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about the accident.  I guess I was lucky.  Last Sept. I was going 55 or 60 on my 2001 Road King Classic,  a SUv turned left right in front of me  I plowed into SUV past the passenger side.  I went down with the bike after impacting and went 147 feet before the bike stopped.  I had 4 broken toes, broken kneecap, and flesh torn down to the bones.   Had 3 surgeries. I am ok now but wearing a compression sock, back to work since Dec 16 and should have a full recovery. My Road King was totaled.  I have a orange/black SEEG ordered. Should be shipped from factory the 26th.
