New Chrome Center Stand from Harley Davidson
« on: April 20, 2007, 01:53:57 PM »

Check out this new Chrome Center Stand from Harley Davidson.  I purchased a center stand from Rivco model # HD001S for my SEEG2.  The stand never did work.  I sent it back to Rivco for a full refund and was told that they had problems with a few others.  This model fits Fits '99-later Touring
models with Original Equipment or Profile® Low suspension.

Several of the guys here have used the various iterations of the Rivco stand and like it.  I got one, never could make the damn thing work easily/successfully.  Sent it back.  They were good about it.  But I know they were just pacifying when they said "some give trouble."  What they were really thinking was "dumass wimp can't figure it out or lift the bike!"

Some questions:
1.  Does this product reduce clearance?  If so, any idea how much.
2.  Does it mount to the rear of the frame in the same area as the REVCO or near the front forward of the kickstand?
Thanks, I have been looking for one that would fit either height bike.

Correct sizing is EVERYTHING with the Rivco centerstand. Our bikes (SEEG) use the adjustable centerstand. If it is sized right it pops up on the centerstand as easy as can be. If it's wrong, it's a monster.
The first stand I got was the version that was supposed to fit the lowered suspension on my bike but it was too tall and was a BITCH to lift the bike up on it. ( you feel ALL 800 lbs).
After discussions with the good folks at Rivco they sent out the adjustable centerstand and it makes all the difference in the world. My bike is on the centerstand 95% of the time. It makes maintainence a snap. Ground clearance is reduced by the thickness of the bolt heads that attach it to the center crossmember of the frame. (about 1/4 inch)
The Rivco stand can be used with the ride str8 rear stabilizer link.
I used the "short" version that is supposed to be used on our bikes on a buddies electra glide standard and it is just right for his bike.
The centerstand is one of my favorite accessories.

IROAR Quote

IROAR, this does not mount in the same place that the Rivco Center stand mounted.  The Rivco mounted in the front.  This mounts further back.  If you look at the picture you can see the clamp that holds the rear muffler onto the bike.  The picture also shows that the bike will raise up the back wheel, due to the fact that the lift is so far back on the frame.  I don't know if it will raise the front wheel as well.  Hope this helps.
