DONE!  Added Another Accessory Switch
« on: March 17, 2005, 11:09:08 AM »

While I have the fairing cap off I thought I would wire in another Accessory Switch to fill in the blank that is currently there and just leave the wires coiled up inside the fairing for now so they are easily accessible.

From the parts manual, the ACC Switch is p/n 71535-96 but they also add "w/73191-96" which appears to be the complete wiring harness.

My question is, if I find a switch locally, will I be able to attach some wires for future use?  In looking at the stock switch, I am not sure what I will be getting!

Just got off the phone with Big Boar HD...the good news is they have the switch in stock!  The bad news is that I have to walk past a Blue SEFB and a Cherry SEEG...cruel and inhumane punishment!

OK, I made it out of Big Boar without buying a new bike but I did come home with the accessory switch.  It came with 3,  ~8" leads and cost ~$26!  Wow.  So I proceeded to complete the install:

Switch is in and the leads are easily available in the main fairing.  I also finished the install of the McEwan Oil Temp Gauge (I am pleased) and finally I added the Harley (Escort) Radar Detector.

Thanks go out to my Niece and Nephew for getting me the Radar Detector Mount and the Fender and Tank protectors...which came in handy as I dropped a torx triver on the fender!

and since  [smiley=worthless.gif] without further discussion:

Thanks, 2Lane.
Looks like its a proprietary mount for that radar detector.

Thanks, 2Lane.
Looks like its a proprietary mount for that radar detector.  Don't need another as I have a Passport lying around already (switched car to a Valentine).  Wonder if that mount can be made to work with a Passport detector?

It is a pretty good design...looks weatherproof enough and easily removed.  Would be tough to use a standard escort without major redesign.

Leroy,

Start by reading this thread...lot's of good info and pics:

Details about the in-dash oil temp gauge

Now as for your questions, everything is included except tie-wraps.  The sender mounts in the oil pan replacing a plug.  Installing the gauge itself can be a pian depending on how thin your hands are or how far you take the bike apart!

You guys can order at your local dealership or order from Roger directly at (951) 736-4421 Pacific Standard Time (Calif. time).  Be sure that you emphasize that it's for a Screamin Eagle Electra Glide and not a regular Electra Glide or Ultra Classic!   Please mention to Rodger that you are from the CVO web site.

Now, let me get this straight.  The HD radar detector is 'pretty good' and the HD Compass is not quite 'up to snuff'.  Do you have both installed on the Cherry Delight? [smiley=confused5.gif]
