Passenger backrest question
« on: March 14, 2010, 07:51:51 PM »

Have a question for ya’ll with the 05 SE Electra Glides.  I’m in the process of adding the Stealth Luggage Rack and a passenger backrest.  I’ve got most of the parts, waiting on a few more to come in.  The backrest upright came with two long black brackets.  Per the backrest upright instructions, they are supposed to connect between the two docking points on the bike.  I don’t recall ever seeing this part before, I had both a 01 Road King then a 05 Road Glide, both had the full dock points for tour pak and sissy bar back rest.  I don’t recall ever seeing these two black brackets before.  Are these on the 05 SE Electra Glide?  They look kind of ugly…The HD part is 53805-99 called “Bracket”.  I’m using the front dock kit 53803-06.  Is this part required or is it one of those parts no one really uses?

Yep, it supports the rear mount for the detachable passenger backrest.
