My other bike is a road glide so I am used to having some place to put stuff. I don't think I am going to put saddlebags on but looking for suggestions for a good backrest/luggage rack bag that could hold a few tools, couple of pairs of glasses, a sweatshirt?
What have you guys used and how is it working for you?

anybody?

Check out Boss bags. Have their saddlebags on my WG2. They are very well made bags. Think you would like them.

Thank you very much for the reply and those look nice (and expensive). Would like to see some nylon or cordura alternatives?

I've had several tailbags and saddlerolls. I like the T-bag TBU650 best for what you describe. Very durable, versatile, and holds a lot more than it looks. I carry a couple of pair of sunglasses, water bottle, jacket, gloves, tools and more.

Also check out AllAmerican Riders products. Good quality, made in USA.

i get any t-bags and mount them on luggage rack..when you get where you are going..yank em off or leave on for backrest!

I use a Swedish military back pack with a leather bottom straped to the sissy bar; adds back support. Usually at a army navy store.

Another swedish way:) lejonkulan.com
Great quality bags and pretty big.

I am curious as well about the mounting system. They look great :2vrolijk_21:

I had to move the tail lights back and mounted them to the license plate. Then I used the tail light hole and an existing one to mount the bracket with longer screws and a sleeve with a grooves to put the mounts on. The bags had a hard plastic side on the inside that the brackets are mounted to so that the bags don't sag. The brackets are nice because I can lock/unlock them and easily remove them by hand should the need arise (like when the bolts for the rear belt sprocket were backing out of the wheel on a ride).
You can see the bracket here: http://www.leatherworksinc.com/leather-motorcycle-products/easy-brackets/ (http://www.leatherworksinc.com/leather-motorcycle-products/easy-brackets/)
