2011 Road Glide Ultra Windsheild Trim
« on: January 16, 2013, 09:29:40 AM »

I have a Harley Wind splitter windsheild on my bike. Was told that Harleys chrome trim would not fit this. Does anyone know if it will or are there any aftermarket chrome trim that will? Need to get rid of the ugly rubber trim!

I have the windsplitter 12" and 14" and the HD chrome trim.  Its not easy to put on but it will fit, takes some finagleing!

Looks like we have the same Scooter! What kind of finagleing is involved with putting this on?

I'm trying to remember, the problem starts with the center hole.  You need to make sure you start there and have that lined up properly.  In the end, the last screw on the outside, you will need to force and literally push the fairing and the trim piece to line up.  It's really a PIA, fortunatley if you ever need to remove your fairing you don't have to remove the windshield or the trim.  I go through this BS once a year when we take our annual  trip where we log 2K-3K miles, I put the 14" windshield on for a little more protection and noise reduction so I can listen to music.  I dread it every year but I've gotten pretty good at it now.

The problem is strictly the wind splitter, just about any other aftermarket shield makes it a two minute upgrade. If you just have to have the 'splitter you could buy two more of those offset screws that come with the trim kit and then the trim would fit much easier. I spent not hours but days trying to make it fit, then found that I hated the wind splitter and changed to a clearview and the trim then went on in seconds.

I prefer to struggle and do it the hard way.  I guess I should have asked first, that sounds a lot easier?

Not the experience I had. Tried a 13" KW, 10" WV and the stocker that came with mine (same bike, different color). It would not go on with any of them. MoCo's website even says it won't fit. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448769913&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309446701&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309446701&locale=en_US&bmUID=1358387218061&bmLocale=en_US

Many others have had success at it but I'm not willing to drop $150 and end up with a pile of scrap metal. I took mine back. It's something to do with the CVO fairing is what I'm told. Even the windshield makers offer a little different variation of shields for our FLTRUSE.

Haven't looked into the Kury one yet.

I'd be happy to do it too. But, you're going to have to ride to New Orleans. Mardi-Gras is here in a couple of weeks, come on down.

I have wasted hours trying to get this POS on my bike tried with the OE shield the clearview the super short black plastic harley shield and finally on my latest Long ride shield will not fit without what I consider to be an unacceptable ugly gap along the bottom edge of the trim piece. total waste of money IMO
