Car decided to do a u-turn and drove into the side of me. I think the bike is a total. Back home and in pain.
-
That really sux. I hope your injuries are nothing that won't heal up in time.
-
God speed on the healing. Bike can be repaired or replaced.
All the Best
-
Rest up - Heal up.......
.
So you can........ Ride on......soon...
-
Oh man that sucks. Glad you weren't injured too seriously and hope the healing is rapid. Keep us posted.
-
glad to hear you weren't too badly injured. Bike can be replaced.....
-
You're probably feeling pretty crappy right now but it'll pass. Just hope there's no lasting/lingering joint problems.
And I sure hope they had insurance enough to cover the damages to your bike.
-
Our thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery
-
Like others have said the bike can be repaired or replaced... glad to hear you are ok. Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.
-
Damn... I'd be more than a bit angry at the U-turn pilot! >:(
I hope you recover quickly and fully... Sorry about your bike.
-
Sorry about your very unfortunate experience. I hope you are on the mend and will be up and about very quickly.
As everyone has mentioned, the bike can be replaced and you can't. So, while you are recovering why not start planning on what your ride will be/look like when you are ready to ride again.
Best wishes
Jerry

Hope all is ok with you, the rest is repairable/replaceable!
-
2017 come out is just over a week. I was looking for a new bike but not this way. At least the man that hit me took full responsibility.
-
thats a damn shame...keep us posted on your recovery, thats whats most important at this point :2vrolijk_21:
-
Sounds like it could have been a lot worse, good to hear your not seriously hurt - yahoo, new bike!!
-
Hope all is well, Brings back bad memories of my bike laying on its side too. Bikes can be replaced. Heal up and get back on the road soon. Hopefully there is a 2017 in your future. God Bless!!

Really sorry to hear about ANOTHER motorcycle accident.
So glad to hear you're here still to talk about it, and on the mend.
There are a lot of crazy drivers out there and it seems to be getting worse all the time.
Hopefully you will be back in the saddle real soon.
All the very best.
-
Sorry to read about the accident, thoughts and prayers for your speedy recovery.
pet peeve of mine. this was not an 'accident', it was pure negligence. an accident would be getting hit by a meteor or something along that lines.
At least the man that hit me took full responsibility.
how could he not?
rest up, heal up, and best of luck to you. enjoy your new ride :D
-
Happy you are ok. Heal up fast like everyone else has stated. :2vrolijk_21:
-
Just got word bike has $26,000 in damage. A local dealer has a 2016 Limited I can have for $36,000. Sounds like a good deal. Should I wait to see what the 2017 has to offer.
-
This kind of stuff sucks. I am glad your able to be the 1 telling us and not soeone else.
The tech that works for me went through a very simular situation back in 13 and ended up getting a new 14. He is happy with all the updates but his old bike an 07 or so was paid for now he has payments again.
But it is only a material thing, skin and bones are not easy to replace.
I would wait for the 17's to come out, see what is new than decied.
Again happy that you ok.
-
Heal up fast & ride safe when you feel better.
-
Given that it's literally ten days from the '17 introduction, there's NO WAY I would strike a deal without waiting to see.
Consider that even if you DON'T care about the new models, engines, features, their hitting the market will likely reduce the price on every '16 on the lot, inCLUDING the one he's offering.

glad you are OK and looking for a new ride! Wait on the new models, nothing will move before then as everyone is waiting too

Glad you were not seriously injured!
I would wait on the 114 CVO 8 valve anyway...like some have said even if you don't like something about the 17 version it will definitely make the holdovers a lot cheaper.
-
Glad you are OK Hope you have good luck with the new bike. I would also wait and see what's new.
-
Glad your ok ok to be telling us about it heal and as many have said bike can be fixed or replaced you can't.

Heal up and wait for the 17's to hit the showroom floor. Hope all goes well for you.

Sorry to read this,,,, but obviously glad you're OK.
-
Really hate to hear this. It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly stupid people are. I pray your injuries aren't serious and you get well soon.
-
Hate it that you got hit, glad your home and able to consider a new bike. Heal up and wait for the 2017.
-
Others have said it already. Wait for the '17. There's so many '16s out there right now you should be able to do a lot better than 36k on one.
-
Glad you are going to be O.K. While you heal get EVERY reciept for EVERY part you bought for the bike and put them in some kind of order with a total for the appraiser/adjustor. That should speed your payment/settlement. Whether you settle with your company and let them go after the other guy, which I suggest, or you settle with the other guys company on your own, for Property damage only. Do not let them "give you the standard accessory add-on amount of $xxx.xx. Get paid for your investment on the accessories, the bike itself is kind of different because it has a defined value (Book). But accessories are different.
Best wishes.
-
Grateful that you've survived this accident. Metal and plastic can be replaced. Skin and skulls come at a dearer price. All my faith that you'll recover and ride again.

Thanks everyone for your prays and advice.

As many others have said, I suggest that you definitely wait a couple of weeks to see the 2017's... Then you will pick up the 2016 for less than $36k if you still want it.
-
This sucks but obviously could have been worse. Wishing you a fast and full recovery.
-
Thanks everyone for your prays and advice.
really sorry for the misfortune. was really hoping to get up with ya this year, as I live in Lynchburg & have your sister bike. hope you have a speedy recovery, heal well & give praise to the Lord that you are still with us & it was not any worse. and yes, hold out to see what the 17's are offering.
-
Glad you didn't suffer more serious injury. Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery - both physical and monetary..
By the way, I also would wait for the new 2017 model release before pulling the trigger on replacing your trusty steed, if it turns out you don't like the '17 offerings there should be enough '16's left around for you to strike a favorable deal.

Dadgummit, Paws, that's a shame! I'm just glad you're ok, thank the Good Lord! Ditto on replacin' the Iron. Hold your own on the value. They're trained to get out as cheap as humanly possible. I'm not with everybody on gettin' a new one, but that's just me. Looks like they've got early on problems, to me. Your CVO was a good lookin' Motorsickle, and I know where there's one just like it, 'cept it's Yellow & Black, with 4000 miles, and $5K worth of extras, for $26,500.00. Just sayin........Good luck, and get better soon! Later--HUBBARD

WOW !! Hang in there hope you feel better in a couple of days.

Talking to lawyer today as this is my first ever bike crash. Then off to Harley to look at a 2016 CVO Limited.
-
When I read rider down in MV I thought it happened on one of the twisties. Not in town with some a$$ making a u-turn into you. Have a speedy and full recovery.
I would definitely wait and see 2017s before buying. That's what I did last year. With Harleys track record on first year with new motors I would have to think long and hard on the 114" engine. But I would wait and make that decision in about two weeks. Best of luck to you.
-
Muddy, God's speed I'm glad you are still here!

Ok, that's out. My Business Partner decided to keep that Bike! And, he bought a New Trailer this weekend, so he can probate for W.H.O.R.E.! I wish you a speedy recovery Paws, and all the happiness that comes with buying another Harley! Later--HUBBARD

I hate it when this happens. Glad to hear you're able to talk about it and ready to get back on. Get well soon.

I sent ya a pm about one that I feel is a good advocate. maybe give him a shout
-
Wow, pretty familiar-looking piece of road there. :nervous: Of all the towns not to be on the constant lookout for bikes. :-\ Glad you'll be OK and hope everything works out financially. Good luck with the new bike search, too.
-
I wish a quick recovery for you and a "painless" transition to a new bike.
God Bless.
Mark
-
Dadgum Bill! Sorry that it happened but praise God that your Okay! I'd wait on the 2017's before you nab that 2016. May have something that rocks your boat. Either way what ever you decide to get will be nice. Praying you have no complications from this accident buddy! Gods sweet love and blessings! :2vrolijk_21:

God I hate these stories. Muddy you are a lucky man. Hope your ok and your replacement bike is even better than the old one
-

Suggestion: I wouldn't be in a big hurry to buy anything until you ask your lawyer first.
I think you're goitng to want your crashed bike residual value settled and be released from the doctor from your lawyers perspective first.

Just got the repair estimate yesterday $26,000. The car drivers ins company said they will settle the bike by Friday. They have already sent me a check for all property minus the bike. We will talk about injury settlement in 8 weeks or so. So far his company Stare Farm looks to be treating me OK.

This is all good news! How are you healing up?

Another two weeks or so and most skin will be back and the ribs should be OK.

VERY GOOD NEWS: Please be sure to have your doctors assess the longer term issues you may experience with your injuries. In some cases arthritis and muscle and rand of motion issues are experienced. All important to know before the final releases are signed.

That sux, hope you were not injured too badly.
The insurance issue is interesting. In July, my '11 SERGU crapped with a lifter gone bad, long story on how Asheville HD botched that whole diagnosis and charged me $172 to change two spark plugs that took 3 hours, that is a tale for another day and another section.
So, being on first day of a weeks vacation and having 40K miles on the '11, much to my wife's displeasure, I bought a '16 SERGU rather than have the '11 repaired.
The sticker was $41,500, I got her for $36,800, so, the finance manager said "Oh, you do not need GAP insurance as the value of the bike is more than you paid" , being an insurance adjuster, I said "well, what happens in two years when the bike has 20,000 miles on it and it is upside down". She did not have an answer.
The point is, the GAP coasts $12 a month and worth EVERY penny.

That sucks. It's always horrible when you mess your bike up like that.
-
Just went back. First time pulling out of the same motel was a bit strange....Made it back to VA OK. Also rode the Dragon again. Not really worth the time but went with others who have never been on it.
-
Glad it all worked out! It is always strange when you go back to the same place after an accident.
-
continue moving forward & looking ahead. getting over that hurdle is a huge step to running the race. glad you're doing ok. God Bless you & keep you safe
