That plastic running from the fairing down and chin spoiler ruined it as far as I'm concerned  :puke:

I noticed two other colors as well, a two tone grey/silver and then H-D really got the marketing dept. busy with the "Mako shark" blue fade paint scheme .....I do like that one though with the black motor.

If they had done the chrome parts on the light silver and red I might have been able to let it
“grow “ on me. They Missed it again, and my ruby red and palladium silver just earned back a little bit more resale value.

Boom! Box GTS Radio Kit
Part Number 76000834

$1899.95

Fits '19-later Road Glide models with a 4.3 Boom! Box Radio.

At this moment it doesn't appear to fit the previous year bikes. Give that time....

Looks like it will fit.

Looks like it would fit right in the size of the deck hole looks the same. I think it’s probably just them trying to force people to buy new bikes. I’m really not a fan of that lower plastic piece on the new road glide imo some people may like it tho.

I like the Faring extensions, or sideburns as one called them.  I think they look good.  My questions is do they help with wind management?  I like the Mako fade or the gray and red.

HD claims the new boom will not fit older bikes.  Not sure thats true yet.  We would have to find out if wiring harness has changed.  I'm sure inner fairing did not change.

There is a post or two discussing that on another of our threads.  Per those conversations, that "upgrade" is only available, currently, on 2019 models.  The speculation is at some point it may be available on earlier models including your '18.

I will look for that thread. Since I am not using the factory harness for much more than a power wire this is something I may be able to make work.

Also had the thought about wind management would be cool if it did help. I don’t know if it will affect people that want to add lowers tho. I guess time will tell. Apparently some dealers already have bikes I seen on another forum so might not take long to see what’s good about them.

in doing a cursory look at the wiring diagram between the 2018 and 2019, they look the same, so not sure why the new radio would't fit the older bikes....  if there is a reason, would like to know, even though i have a 2013 and no immediate plans to 'upgrade'....

I’m betting they say it won’t work because it would have to be flashed for the new one. The wiring looks the same and there’s no way they are going to re-work the inner fairing molds or build new molds because the two units appear to be the same size,it’s not cost effective.

Looks like they have tryed to vin lock the new stereo from working on older than 19 bikes. To try and force people to buy new ones I suppose. I don’t know how hard that would be to work around I would think Harley would have the ability to unlock them but I don’t know if they will. Funny thing is they are missing out on a lot of money in stereo sales to try and force people to upgrade bikes I think this is a mistake I don’t think people will buy a new bike to have apples car play but that’s my opinion.

I am interested in figuring out lowers too.  If they fit on the 18's they might work.  Its hard to tell if the new pieces will inhibit that.

Looks like the new fairing won’t allow it.  But not sure the accessories book doesn’t have them

I would assume that they will work just like they will on the 18s BUT it looks like you may need to remove the sideburns for clearance, which looks doable....Who will be the guinea pig for this one?  ;)

I talked to my dealer about it and he thinks you would have to remove the "fang" which I don't want to do though I am bummed I cant run lowers. Even if I can instal them no doubt you would need a great painter, couldn't be easy to match the color fade perfectly.
Title: Re: 2019 road glide
Post by: rayson56 on August 24, 2018, 11:29:00 PM
Looks like no "fade" will be needed for lowers by the looks of the front fender and the lower part of the fang.
Title: Re: 2019 road glide
Post by: fred786 on August 25, 2018, 05:19:39 AM
Agree.  Front fender looks to be solid blue with fade starting on fairing and moving back from there.  Presently making deal on this one moving from Street Glide to Road Glide.  I see the extended side covers are listed in the fade.

Saw one in person,  The Fang or fairing extensions would have to be removed.  You would also have to change to the traditional engine guard, and fairing mounts.

I am not sure if the fairing extensions will help at all with wind or not.  I believe a ride would be the only way to know.

I think that blue is awesome, and I'm not a blue fan!

I wonder where they came up with calling them "fangs"?  I think it would be more appropriate to call them gills, considering the position and shape???

Either way, it is a gorgeous looking ride.

I think my FAVORITE Road Glide paint to date is the 2013 CVO Orange/Grey.  I LOVE that bike.  But the Grey with the "1" symbol is just...... gorgeous!  I'm thinking about trading in/up my 2014 CVO Road King on that bad boy!  Gawd she's pretty!

LOVING the new trim collections as well!

I don't know why everyone is so hard on the MoCo.  I think they are doing a great job of trying to stay relevant and satisfy their core base as well.

I say Bravo!!!

I have seen one, but not mine.  I have heard that they are only releasing 500 of that color, so not every dealer is getting one.  I had to get mine from one of the Milwaukee dealers.  For whatever reason, that color / paint scheme resonates with me.  It's like when I bought my 2010 Spiced Rum, still really like that color while many feel that was the worst of the three.  Must be bad taste on my part ;)  I pick it up on Friday, so will try and get some pictures to post then.

Great job Simon! Question; are the accent colors (stitching in the seats, HD emblems on grips and pegs and such and rocker box trims) still orange like the 18s or did they change to red? I thought I read somewhere that was the case.  :nixweiss:

I don't with any certainty. The rocker box trip looks orange but hell, it might be red. I think the seats have colored stitching, orange or red. Not really sure on the grip emblems or pegs - Sorry.

Thank ya, thank ya very much.

I'm normally a big fan of red but I think I like the Lightning Silver & Charred Steel With Black Hole best of all the choices on the FLTRXSE's this year.

I'm normally a fan of Silver, my 09 CVO Road Glide was silver.

However I like the Red Pepper & Magnetic Grey With Black Hole better.  The silver is the only one I have seen in person so far.  Really want to see Mako shark in person.

The Red Pepper is really growing on me vs the Mako Shark fade, but one thing I don’t like is the inner fairing should’ve been painted Rep Pepper, not blacked out.  They painted a color match inner fairing on the Lightning Silver.  It’s kinda like MoCo didn’t want to go the extra mile with that Red Pepper color scheme.  Also would’ve been cool if MoCo replaced the stock bars with Chizeled bars.

I know I’m nitpicking on the “Cadillac” model of motorcycles, but for $43k, it really should be fully loaded, with the CoolFlow fan, fan assisted oil cooler, etc...

Selling over MSRP is ridiculous.  I would find another dealer, paying MSRP is enough.  I don't know if I have ever run into a dealer here in WI that has done that.

Smokey Mountain HD had the Mako blue fade Saturday.  The color was nice but I could feel my blood pressure rising when I sat on it.  With the handlebars straight, the faring was cocked to the right about 5 degrees.  How in the wide world did the factory QA folks miss this?  Not only them but for the $500 assembly costs, the folks in the back missed it, too, and it's sitting on the showroom that way...no excuse for this type thing in my opinion >:(

Not sure I like the Elvis sideburns yet....jury is still out...

They did have a Magnetic Grey and Wineberry Limited (meh...not a bad combo) and two of the three colors of SESG's (Black Forrest solid and Black Forrest with Wineberry).  I think of all of them, the B.F./Wineberry SG was the best looker.

That Billiard Blue on the SG and RG Specials looks very nice, too.

I did not notice any vents (visible) on the primary that was discussed earlier in this and other threads (I looked best I could).

Overall, I think the color choices are a bit better than last year....but nothing that makes me say "gotta have it".  Still happy with what I have.... ;D

SM-HD is an MSRP dealer, by the way.

FWIW: This is a new and very unusual business practice for them. They used to do it during the over heated market demand years ago but they eventually saw the error in their ways and have only sold at MSRP for many years now.

I’m disappointed!

Just to follow up.....  I paid specific attention to it last night and this morning.  When riding how I do, toes at the front end of the foot boards, the flare on the chin fairing absolutely directs the wind away from your knees and shins.  I really only got movement from my jeans down closer to my ankles.  So yes, it does keep the wind off you.

I'm with you the silver/grey with the number one looks great.  In fact I did trade in/up my 2014 CVO Road King for that bad boy.

I'm not a fan of the 18 or 19 models. IMHO they need the same crash bars and stereo as the Street Glide.

I loved my 2016 CVO RGU, thought it was the best thing on 2 wheels. When I decided to get another CVO after my very short lived Fat Bob I just iked the Street Glide package more.

I am a happy camper, bike came in! My long saga with Harley almost over. Now just have to take all my mods from my Streetglide and install them. Only frustrating thing is my stereo guy just left for a 2 week vacation. Part of the deal is that he installs system so I can't take not until he is back and bike is complete. Hate to wait that long but this deal started months ago so guess I can make it a couple more weeks to make sure everything is right. Now I just need this da-- bike to not sump!

I am switching all my mods including the stereo system from my 17 CVO Streetglide over. System is 2 Arc 6 series amps, front Focal's, rear Arc's, Arc DSP. Stereo guy had to fabricate front speaker grills to accept large Focal tweeters and after he did they look stock, will have to redo that for RG.
Between the CFR's on that bike and a ff helmet it took some work to keep me from whining about not being able to hear clearly.
