Anyone know how to tighten it up? I think a spec tool may be needed

I'll have to look at home, but I believe the socket size is 9/16"..   Go buy a cheap deep socket (or borrow one from the neighbor) and cut a slot the length of the socket about 1/16" wide.  This is so when you tighten the nut, the wire goes in the slot and doesn't twist. 

I assume you mean the lamp to the chrome bracket?   If so, you may need to take the 2 screws out of the side of the chrome brackets on the triple tree so you can pull alittle wire out to twist the nut.

I just put these lights on a Streetglide and that's how I had to modify the socket.

Hopefully, someone can explain better than I.

The socket size I cut the slot in is 14MM..  The turnsignal has to be moved out of the way also.  Not a 5 minute job unless someone has a better tool/idea.

Couldn't a open end wrench be used?  It was a while back when I installed mine but I believe I used a wrench.  I know I don't have a modified socket like the snapon one.

That depends on how tight you want to get the nut.  Access with an open end wrench is poor and you would risk slipping off and damaging something if you tried to do more than just snug it up.  Personally, I snug mine up with an open end held at an angle as I align the lights, then use the Snap-On socket for the final tightening. 

If you don't have a friendly Snap-On dealer, buy a cheap 9/16" socket somewhere and modify it to look like the Snap-On.  You don't have to get too fancy; if you snug the nut first you won't be turning the socket very far.  You don't want to make it too tight or strip any threads.

Snapon one was about $36 buck a couple a years ago make adjusting them a breeze.

I've got one........seems like it's a Craftsman.  Don't remember where I got it, but it was back in 88 when I bought the 86 Heritage. 

It's one of those tools that's worthless till you need it........then it's invaluable!

You could also use a flare nut wrench. It will wrap around the nut with less slipage. Sears has them but didn't have an image so I am posting this link as a visual reference so you can see what it looks like. Might try Wally-World, they may have one also.

Well......  yeah; sure.  I've actually just always carefully used an open end wrench and got the job done.  But once in awhile a guy just needs to buy tools .
