Detachable solo mounting Latches
« on: March 08, 2015, 11:52:41 PM »

I am sure i am not the only one that has had issues getting this latches to turn and latch in.  Does anyone have suggestions to make it easier to turn and latch?  We have the same issue with the latches on my wife's tour pack latches.  Seems like the latches are slightly wider than the docking station.

Are you talking about the two back, rotating latches for detachable hardware? Or the latches for the lids?

The 2 back swivel latches on the back of the bracket.  Just does not seem to go on smooth as I feel it should.  A lot of pressure and worry it will slip out of the front part of the bracket.

It just touches the right side shock. All you need to do is flip the shock upside down (just right side) there was a post on this as well as the answer from my local dealer! I did mine and it fits great!

My Dealer told me this too and I flipped the right side shock earlier this week and the solo tour pak rack now fits like a glove. Just loosen the two 3/4" bolts, then Jack the bike off the tires, flip the shock and torque back to 35-40 ft-lbs.

Had this same issue exactly and I think you are talking about the actual post that the latch rotates on.  not the top of the shock where the front of the attachment goes.  I found out that the plastic posts are actually not completely round and are oval.  This was done by harley on purpose so that the bolt could be loosened and the post rotated to assure when you engage the latch it is a tight and vibration proof. When mine were too tight he just loosened the torn bolt turned them slightly did a test latching and tightened them up.  Hope this is what you were asking about.  Al

Thanks Al I will try this also. I think it has to do with all of this.  I know this stuff should fit tight but it should not take a sledge hammer to get these on.
