Title: Could new news be coming soon on M8 engine upgrades?
Post by: Heatwave on January 25, 2018, 05:17:36 PM
So I started a thread on the sumping issues I had on my 2017 CVO Limited. 15 months later I'm on my 3rd engine. If you're interested, you can read the details here https://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=112589.0

Anyways, it looks like we might be getting closer to some new SE Product releases. As described in the thread above, I'm on my 3rd 114 engine after the first 2 with stage 4 kits sumped and failed. My third engine (installed Aug 2017) is a strong running factory fresh and stock 114 engine. It runs great and I've had no signs of sumping, no matter how hard I tried to make it sump over the last 1500 miles.

Today, the HD online store shows a few (very few) new product releases for M8 touring bikes. Mostly cosmetic offerings for M8 engines. They haven't had any new M8 product releases since last summer. I believe we're at the start of a batch of new product releases for 2017 and 2018 M8 bikes. The HD dealers are currently away at their winter dealer meeting and I'm guessing that when they return (this weekend), HD will be releasing a bunch of new accessories including new SE performance products.

If a new Stage 4 kit is launched to accommodate the 2018 117 engines (120 stage 4??), I'll be scheduling my upgrade that's owed to me by the MoCo. Hopefully it was worth the wait!

They are listing the stage CNC heads and 64mm throttle body for the 117” as seperate purchase. Not together as a kit. Still no stage 2 torque cam match for the 117”. I did order the new black push rod covers, black tappet covers, gloss black Willie G starter cover, derby cover, and the new black Willie g extreme flow air cleaner as well as the new black Willie g axle nut covers.

Good googally goob, the inmates are running the asylum at the MoCo paint department...... :puke: :smilie_daumenneg:

(this is my opinion and in no way means to poo on anyone else's that may find this paint appealing.  If my comments have stepped on any toes, I apologize....but come on, really?  The recent HD paint offerings have been sad at the least....again, my opinion....)

Is the Tour Pak installed correctly or did they paint the stripe on the lid crooked?

In the video it looks ok.  The still shot does make it look crooked.

No comment on that front fairing/fender.  Difficult, but.... no comment.

It's from the same company, Lew, just the Bat version vs. the shark.  Really catches the eye just in the pictures (bat and shark).

I've given this a few days, but I think my reaction to this one is: I think I think this looks better than any other paint they've done in the last 5 years, including the CVOs.  If they'd have offered the CVO Limited with something like this, I might have looked past the lack of chrome.  And no, I'm not a Ford guy, although I immediately knew what they were going for.  I also tend to prefer reds over blues.

I think the last paint from HD that I really liked was the Scarlet and Gray SE Ultra from 2010ish.  Since then, I've been largely unimpressed.

The tank script says 00/150. If that's the case, they will sell all 150. And that paint is starting to grow on me. I like it better than the Battleship. Not sure how it compares to Dark Earth or the Orange and Black. It's nice to see HD take a bit of a departure from past bikes. Even if it looks like Baby Blue. Let's see it in the sun!

I've just never been a fan of light blues.  Having said that still don't hate the blue one.  I like the overall design scheme.  Would like that one specifically even more if the palette were different.  The halloween bike up there ^ I actually quite like though.  The mix of elements and the colors all work well together for my eyes.  My first thought was was Tron !  Even with that I still like it  :huepfenlol2: .

A very expensive pimp's suit...

Reminds me of the 2010.5 black CVO Ultra to a point. Have it as one of my rolling screen saver pics. And now this 2017 joins it.

I have been hoping they would introduce some parts for the CVO 117.  Say a 124 Kit.  Higher compression pistons.  Cam for the 117.  They really should introduce something for the weak clutch.

They already have 2 higher level of clutch springs than stock. I'm running the highest level springs 1275Ns.

I just saw that today while looking at parts on HD web site.  They also have a kit that includes the spring and the 10 clutch pack.

I will most likely got with the same AIM I have in my 13 CVO King, the AIM VP-SDR kit for the A&S clutch.

I was looking to see if any new performance parts and been released on the HD web site.  Didn't really see any.  Still no big bore kits or pistons for the factory 117.

Your 18 CVO should have the 10 plate/1100n spring combo standard. Just need to change the springs.

Suburban Speed (Suburban HD) has a drop in 124 kit so it will only be a matter of time....

I've been kicking around giving it a try. For me I'd just add the displacement and the best cams for my application. No head or TB work.

Okay, that is good to know on the plates.  I know it is a very week spring, much week then the factory clutch in the 13 CVO.  My 13 I built the first time to 122 HP and 124 torque with no slip.  When I went 117 with it, I had to do the heaviest spring and the VP-SDR cutch.

With just a Fullsac head pipe, fullsac 2.25 muffler cores and a good dyno tune with TTS tuner I have clutch slip at low RPM.

Before I do any more to the 18 I will be doing the VP-SDR with their heavy spring.

ea that has been out a few months.  I keep watching for some Dyno runs with the 124.  I have not seen any dyno sheets for M8 124 builds.  T-man also has a 124 Kit and so does Fuel Moto.  Suburban was first to market with it.

I to am kicking it around.  I just want to see more dyno runs of 120/124 engines with different cams to see what will give me the Torque curve I want.  I want big torque before 4000 RPM, that comes on real early.  140 square should be possible and very reliable, able to tour on.

Hoochie mama that's a nice graph.

I can't tell if they touched the heads. I saw a throttle body and ported intake was added.

I'll make less power with my side exhaust however low 130's would work just fine for me.

If I am not mistaken, when I seen this graph on another site, it was stated that build is with stock heads.

I’ve seen several offerings from this company and they definitely build some beautiful bikes...MoCo should just farm out all the CVO paint work to those guys.
