Title: 117 Cylinder Head options
Post by: Dacuda on March 29, 2018, 05:06:02 PM
Ok I just finished my 110 to 117 upgrade, I know I'm going to want to do the CNC heads in a few weeks so I'm looking for options that will work best with the 117 stock kit

Depending on how quick of a turnaround your looking for there are several options for head work. Don't get caught up on them being CNC, I've seen it go both ways on CNC vs hand porting. There are several members here very qualified too help you out. Top of my list is Jim Libo at mega Flo, absolutely some of the best work money can buy but also some of the more expensive and takes time. Don at HDSP is also very capable as is Rick Ward at Ward Performance. I've have built and tuned bikes with heads from lots of porters and those three are always consistent and reliable. John Sachs on this forum is also a good guy, I've just never personally used or tuned his work.

If you are talking the HD CNC heads, then I would probably try to steer you more towards having your heads ported, either hand or CNC. Several porters on here that would be willing to help you, give a couple of them a call and see what your feelings are. I used John Sachs on my 110 heads that are now on my 117. Can't ask for a better person to deal with and he goes out of his way to help. Suggest giving him a call before you make any final decisions.  JMO

Don at HD street performance did my heads.  Real happy with the work and the results.  Brandon (cherryseeg2) tuned the bike after a friend and I built it.

My 117 is at 138.5 HP and 140 torque.
